Whether a player is a righty or lefty does not have any effect on gameplay at all.
In the CD game, there is a way to find out, but it doesn't really matter. I'll try to look it up and find out how...

In the CD, go to the Tools menu, and then Output stats. Then select Vital Stats, choose your format, and click Output.

Does this have any affect on gameplay? Are there any plans to incoporate this into the game? It is a major part of baseball strategy and I'm rather disappointed that it dosn't seem to be a factor in this game.

I do not think it is currently in the plans, i do admmit that in baseball it sometimes makes a big difference, but we felt there were more important features. We will consider adding Righty/Lefty splits, etc for future versions, though. Thanks for the input.

I think the lefty/right thing is the reason why there wind up being so many veteran free agents. There's no need to platoon 2 guys who hit .280 with 20 HRs each at a position because one player can do the job of two. You don't need to worry about your bench as much either.

I think this is an interesting point, do they hit or pitch LH or RH however I would advise against adding this becaue it could bring on complaints such as, "My Ace LH Joe Smith got HAMMERED by a bunch of LH lineups!! C'mon BBMO! This never happens... blah, blah.." You get the idea. I admit there is a random thought about knowing whether my pitcher is a left hander or if I have a complete right handed lineup, however the ability to pick up any team and just worry about on-the field stats is part of what makes this game fun. Anybody, even those who know very little about baseball can catch on quickly without having to worry about the small aspects, such as do you have a good LH speed or Power guy on your bench for the playoffs.
Of course that's just my 1/50th of a dollar.
