Hello everyone, I would like to announce the release of Highlanders Sound Mod, a set of replacement PBP sounds for Baseball Mogul. This was tested exclusively with BM 2011, but should work with earlier versions as well.

I wanted to make Baseball Mogul sound more like a live TV or radio broadcast of an actual game. All crowd sounds are taken from MLB.TV and bat sounds were recorded from Youtube batting practice videos. More details can be found in "ReadMe-Mod.txt" from the attached zip file.

Installation:

Download the attachment "Highlanders Sound Mod v1.00.zip" and unzip all files into your Baseball Mogul sound folder, "C:\Sports Mogul\Baseball Mogul 2011\Skins\<SKIN_NAME>\Sound\PBP"

Be sure to backup your original sounds first.

I would appreciate any feedback, comments, ideas, or improvements. I hope you all enjoy and a big thank you to everyone involved in this great game!

Seems to work; but I haven't had many non-hr fly balls so far, everyone seems to be bowling grubbers :) Thanks!

Doesn't do much to put these in Classic when you're playing with the Modern Skin :). Seemed too quiet for my taste but thanks for the effort.

Thanks for pointing that out. It's interesting that you found it too quiet and I'm wondering if others will also. Thanks for trying it!

I like it. It is just different enough that it makes for a better experience. I am not sure how to get around the fact that every hit sounds the same coming off the bat, though. It would seem to me that a hard hit ball (line drive, gap double, homer) should have a different sound off the bat than a bloop single or soft groundout or popup. Is there a way to differentiate?

Short answer: harder hits should sound louder. You may notice it more the longer you play with it. Now, the long answer...

Although there are 18 BM sound files for hits (hit0.ogg-hit17.ogg), I have only been able to find 6 unique replacements that sound decent, so there is a lot of duplication. For example, hit7.ogg-hit14.ogg are all the same sound, so this is probably what you are hearing most of the time. The game picks the higher numbered hit files to play the harder hit sounds, so hit17.ogg should be the loudest. If you load them sequentially into an ogg player, you should notice the sounds getting louder, with hit16.ogg and hit17.ogg being the loudest and used for most home runs and hard hit balls.

For someone that has spent much time with mods, I especially appreciate that you have taken the time to review mine. Thanks!
