Just copied/pasted this from another thread about signing too many free agents and exceeding your budget limit.

I've thought about recommending that there be a limit to the # of players you can sign during a single sim, but that also has some negatives to it. Some people are only able to check their team once a day, and therefore only get 1 chance at free agent signings.

The best idea I can come up with is there be a pseudo payroll during the free agency period. What I mean by this is your total pseudo payroll cannot exceed your budget limit.

(Pseudo payroll)=(your real payroll) + (all free agent max bids by your team during the current simulation period).

If you exceed the pseudo payroll all your bids are defunct or code it so that it is impossible to exceed the pseudo payroll(you get a message saying "You cannot afford this player").

This could also be implemented in trades so it is impossible to stack teams. Computer just computes what the payroll would be if the trade was completed, if it exceeds the budget limit you get a message saying "You cannot afford this player."

I dont like ur first idea by limiting them to check the team once a day, cause there is 10 sims hours in fast sim and hourly, otherwise, what's the point for playing hourly.
I like ur second idea, people are crazily bidding FA for over 150 points!!! and they sign it for 7 years, then there will be no chance for the other team to win.

Being someone that has been nailed myself in FA , having a way that the computer caps the FA when teams bids would be good.

If I need a CF I tend to bid on 2-3 of them from ok to great. There have been times that I end up with all 3 an I end up having a outfield sitting on my bench that I can not trade away , an I start losing points after a while.

Maybe if not a cap, a way to stop from getting players that are at the same position, ( meaning if I get one CF to sign the other 2 bids get pulled off the table) but then that too has it problems.

Hi Ash,

I agree that your suggestion is a step in the right direction...It doesn't sound like it would be particularly difficult to code either.

I like TGG's idea of limiting you to sign only 1 player at a certain position, with the exception of pitchers probably. Some people aren't able to actively participate in the free agent bidding.

My question is how would the computer decide which Centerfielder of the 3 you bidded on would get signed if you had high bid on all 3? The 2 options that come to mind are: CF with highest paying contract, or CF with best overall scouting report.
I see problems with both, ideally the best option would be to rate them when you were bidding, but I think that is alot of coding.

Only suggestion I have is to bid on a certain position once per sim. This just isn't feasible for those people that have more important things to do than sit at their computer and watch the free agent bidding for hours hehe.
