I didn't.
And, generally, it's poor posting to "necro" threads - especially ones from 6 years ago. If there's nothing remotely relevent to posting on a long dead thread, try not to. I mean, posting on a 6 year old thread just to say, "this is old, 6 years old"

It is called post dredging, it is a hobby of post padders, especially in BMO :D

Why is it needed? Can't you just post on a recent thread?

I totally agree. It's childish and rude to everyone else that visits this site. Some of us don't have all day to sit and read post from 6 **** years ago especially when nothings been added of any value. I wish the mods would close off those old post so the children of the site have nothing to play with anymore.

I would like to let SoxRox know that there are indeed posts from six years ago. They didn't magically disappear, and as odd as it may seem, the people six years ago kept posting, not realizing how silly it looks right now.
You've just wasted 5 minutes of my time.

I'm just curious as to what would possess people to go look for 6 year old threads just to post on them and say "this is 6 years old."

...honestly though, I still don't get it. What's the appeal behind the "post count race" anyway? Seriously, if I could manage to do it without removing real content I wouldn't have half of the posts that I do have. The only reason for that though is because other people actually pay attention to it. I'd actually like to turn off the post count display, personally.

Ya funny how everyone is complaining when they are the ones who chose to waste 10 minutes going " oh this is childish and you ruined my five minutes" I just felt like bringing up an old thread.

I'm not complaining. it doesn't really matter. I'm just wondering what the motivation is to post on a 6 year old thread saying "this thread is 6 years old"...I mean, I could kind of understand posting on an old thread to give your thoughts on the subject (although, I think it'd make more sense to just start a new thread), but I just don't understand posting on a thread over half a decade old to point out that it is that old. It just serves to clutter up the top of the forum.

I don't get it either, but since post numbers give some idea of how helpful the poster's post might (kinda like a mix between Wins, RBIs, and ERA), I would like to see a tiered system. Maybe keep count up to 1000, then give titles at, for example, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000, 32000,...

Like I said elsewhere recently, I generally do. I only ever really pay any attention when someone else brings it up. The post count chase itself always struck me as a "look at my post count d00dz!!!1!" type of thing, which is a bit of a turn off to me in addition to diluting the whole reason for post counts in the first place.

The forums used to work like that here. Post over 500 was Mogul, 300 was Manager, 100 Coach, and 0-99Fan...
Now it should work something like,
0-499 Fan
500-2999 Coach
3000-10,000 Manager
10,000+ Mogul
