View Full Version : Have the player ratings changed?

I have always tried to build my teams off of a strong pitching staff, and then aquired the best hitting I could afford. Recently, the FA market and rookies have been lower quality hitters, so I am stuck with the same quality pitching and lesser hitting. The funny thing is that I am winning more games! Are the same rated pitchers better than they used to be? Are lower rated hitters better than they used to be? Not that I'm complaining. I'm just curious.

If the players you have are a year older, but still rated the same, the older more experienced player usually outperforms the young inexperienced player from my experiences.
Were you trying to see how many times you could fit the word experience into one pargraph, experience?

When my experienced players experience the varied experiences of the inexperienced players, it is quite an experience.
Just kidding.
I'm not sure that explains everything. My pitchers have aged, and have become quite good. But I have some young hitters who are rated similar to this: contact b+, power b, eye b. They are hitting as well as, if not better, than my hitters used to with contact a, power a-, eye a-. And for the record, my scouting rank has stayed consistant for many seasons.
Again, I am not complaining. I'm just observing.

I've been noticing something more general...
It seems that hitting overall has been throttled down a touch. Perhaps to try out the effects of stronger overall pitching, I don't know. But, I've been seeing much lower team batting averages as well as much lower team pitching era's.
It's somewhat frustrating though to have a team that should be hitting much better, and just isn't. I've got one team where 5 of my starters are hitting below .250. This is with guys like, Lee Stevens, Chris Singleton, Miguel Cairo, & Orlanda Cabrera. I agree that they shouldn't be all hitting .300 or more, but all of them below .250, and I'm still in 2002 can be maddening.
imho...

I just did a search for a catcher in FastSim 6, and I only saw a few decent hitters, and I didn't see anybody that I would call good.
If I remember right, Clay said something about fixing some of the Rookies to stop making them so **** good. ( a lot of A+ Babe Ruth players comming out )
I have seen my power numbers drop off, by a real lot. Not that bad of a thing, but trust me I would not be shelling out 30 points for a player that is hitting 280 an has 16 HR with only a week left in the season.
As I said in a another thread, you and your sense of humor are sorely missed in FastSim 24, hwt1313. I also had a few rookies that were nothing special when they came into AAA, but now two of my pitchers are excellent 1-3 starters. The initial ratingas usually are no that accurate. Wait a year or two and then make a decision.

I tried to only scale down the stats of ROOKIES, as they are created. So it shouldn't be hurting players you've already signed.
