I am seeking personnal opinions about batting orders. How do people make their batting orders. I am always at a loss as to what to do with my first 3 players in the order.
I usually but my player with the best OBA in first spot, and second OBA in second spot, then I put a player with a good hitting average in third spot, and fourth and 5th spot and cleanup hitters.
Does this seem like a good way to place your batting order?
It also seems like OBA is more important then batting average, any opinions on this? Thanks.

my preferances
1st Best OBP and speed
2nd good BA usually my 3rd best power of around a B-/B
3rd Best Avg and good power B>
4th Best Power
5th best avg
6th-8th/9th I let the season stats determine by avg first then power.

i prefer to have alot of speed in my 1,2 and 3 spots and have 4 and 5 bat them around. I think that increases my chances of scoring every first inning. I like to hit guys who generally would be in the leadoff spot to hit third especially if they are good hitters!!

While I don't win many world championships, I seem to make it to the playoffs enough with this formula.
1. Average Speed C+ to B with a Good OBP over .370
2. Contact Player of at least B+ with an Eye of At least B
3. B+ or Higher Contact Hitter with B or Better Power
4. A or Better Contact with C+ or Better Power
5. A or Better Contact with B+ or Better Power
6. B- and above on everything except speed, C+ will do there
7. C or above on all vital offensive stats
8. B- or better contact with B or better speed.
While this style of lineup doesn't generate alot of home runs, it does produce a consistent offense that keeps you in games with ab above average pitching staff.

Always look at stats first then scouting grades a distant second.
1. Best Speed-->high OBP.380-.400--> 2-1 Walk to SO ratio
2. High OBP .350-.400--> 2-1 Walk to SO ratio
3. Avg OBP .330--> excellent Power 40 HR type
4. Avg OBP .330--> excellent Power 40 HR type
5. Avg OBP .330--> excellent Power 40 HR type
6. High Average contact hitter-->2-1 Walk to SO ratio
7. High Average contact hitter-->2-1 Walk to SO ratio
8. My defensive specilist with no stick.
9. High Average Good Speed
Never forget about defense.

i was going to send a response, but it looks like mr. mad cows took care of it.
between 3, 4, and 5, i put the highest obp in 3 usually. my 3 and 4 always have the most power, and the 5 guy with the third most power.
i like speed in my top two batters. jd drew is the perfect 2 hole hitter if you have three other power hitters.
as st. louis i would go
vina
drew
edmonds
pujols
martinez
as a sample...
defense is important, it effects pitchers' eras big time...
