Baseball Mogul 2002 has 15 different Manager Settings. I planned on adding these to Baseball Mogul Online, but I've read some dissension such as the following:

"I am interested in being the GM/Owner of the team, and not the Manager. If it is an option, then I feel that the teams that do take the option to set their manager profile, would have an advantage."

Taking that into account, should we add Manager Settings to Baseball Mogul Online?

(We could also add actual "managers" with different personalities, but this would be significantly more work).

crud, looks I replied in the wrong thread... :)

at any rate, I'd go for actual managers, since it fits more into the GM aspect of the game, and adds another level of personnel decision-making, which seems like fun...

First let me say from a personal standpoint that I agree with Farsight about how fun it would be to hire and fire a manager. I'd even like to take it one step farther and have an entire staff
(coaches, AAA manager, scouting director, etc etc).

However ......

As a marketable product, I don't think any huge changes need to be made to Baseball Mogul. This is one enjoyable, addictive, kick *** game right now!! There will be time after version one hits the market (and starts making money) to go back and put in some of the great ideas that are being suggested.

just my two cents.

I'd prefer to have managerial settings like the cd-version. For those that haven't played the cd-version the managerial settings affect how often you hit & run, steal bases, use pitchers on short rest, sac bunt, sac fly, use substitutions, pinch run, go for extra bases, pitchout, pitch around batters, pitch out of jams.

It basically makes it so you use your teams strengths to their fullest and avoid your weaknesses. It really does help and adds another dimension to the game that makes it more enjoyable.

If we hired/fired managers it would have to be done very well.

Given the fact that this game is being played from the perspective of a GM, I feel that actual managers would be much better suited in Both CDROM and in the online game. If I had my choice however I would say that it is much more important in the online game. It would make the game more realistic if you could hire and fire managers as in real life. The sliders fit better in the CDrom game as you can set a general style you want and keep it.

Just my 2 coppers worth,

I would love to see actual managers with different personalities.I believe Clay though when he says it would be a lot of work. So maybe he could add it as an upgrade after the beta ends and Baseball Mogul Online is off and running. It would be a nice little bonus sometime down the road.

I agree- you could have different managers with different salaries and different tendencies...but I think Clay should focus on the bugs and get the game live before worrying about it.
