I am Cleveland in Fastsim 39. I rested my best starters for the playoffs and then set up my pitching rotation even going so far as to notify my opponent as to the new order of my pitching rotation. With my pitchers rested I marked my number one starter to pitch the first game.

What happened next baffles me. The computer started with my number three starter and then pitched my number four starter and finally my number five starter.

I have been in many playoffs during the last month and I have never seen this. Is this a glitch or do I still fail to understand how to properly adjust a pitching rotation? Any feedback or help would be appreciated as I would love to avoid having this happen again.

I lost the playoff series in five games. The crucial game was game number three where the computer pitched my number five starter instead of going with my well-rested number one starter or even my also well-rested number two starter. This is the first time my number five starter ever pitched in the first five game round of the playoffs.

I really wish players had more control over the pitching rotation especially in the playoffs.

As a related aside do pitchers performances in the regular season affect their playoff perfomances at all? If a player has a career regular season will he perform just as well in the playoffs that year? Does resting a pitcher during the season to keep his innings reasonable have any benefit at all in the playoffs? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

All too often I see great pitchers getting bombed in the playoffs and it baffles me becase this goes against the history of baseball where great pitching is the hallmark of the playoffs and the World Series.
