Hey I am very happy I advanced but this is unfair to others as I was in debt. Just thought I should be honest.

I'd be pretty ticked off if you were picking in front of me when you were supposed to be disqualified.
Shouldn't in debt teams be at the bottom of the selection, since they are being allowed to advance?

not to be ticky tack, but i do believe teams that are being allowed into the challenge finals despite their being in debt should pick last since they are an afterthought and advanced due to a new loophole created by the mogul team.
i hate to agree with champneal but it should be this way.
i give more credit to the owners that were able to remain in the black while still competing.
but if the order stays, thats fine with me as well.
i just believe it is more fair to have tems in debt that advanced to be at the end of the selection order.

and what about that idea of having a couple backup owners in case some teams that have qualified do not sign up??
for this final round, i definitely want all human controlled teams.
and also, i think something should be said for those owners who may cheat and sign up early.
there should be a penalty instituted and declared immediately.
i just want this last challenge round to run smoothly from beginning to end, and the winner to raise his trophy without any dispute.

yeah would be nice to have all human GM's.
Ohh and when will the password be released? Would be nice to also have some time to look over the teams.

Yeah, it does suck that folks (at least one since he said so) who finished in the red are picking before me. Not that it matters too much, but I did everything under the sun to make sure I would finish in the black (made it with 5pts). Seems a shame I could of just maxed out med expenses (likely NOT have lost my ACE for the whole year) finished in the red but with a much better mogul pts and better position on the ladder.

I dunno what to say, I finished with ZERO CASH, so it's not like I did a great financial job, but I finished 21st in Challenge 1 where the 20th person made it, and people in debt are moving on, I feel a little big cheated....

The revised rules for the semi-finals clearly state that any team that finishes the final season in debt will be disqualified.
I thought it took a lot of class for metsquad to speak up. If he really did finish in debt then clearly he should be disqualified. It's a tough thing to do but it's also the right thing to do.
I checked the fifteen players who qualified from the Mogul Challenge 2 league. All fifteen finished in the black and at least one of these players qualified because other players in Mogul Challenge 2 who finished higher were disqualified for finishing the final season in debt.
If some players from the Mogul Challenge 1 league who finished the final season in debt were mistakenly listed as qualifying for the Challenge Finals, I feel confident that Tom Kaplan will correct this matter and publish a revised draft list.

Sorry, my mistake. Please do not overreact and stop jumping to conclusions, Davehorn, champneal, dismaldream, gfunk...why couldn't you all be like Schaefling? :); of course I will correct it. It was only one team that I messed up with. Here's the deal:
10:30 slabador
10:50 davehorn
11:00 palzy
11:10 steven0560
11:20 willat
11:30 tarek2
11:40 toogood69
11:50 gfunk911
12:00 AM pundystar
Sorry for the confusion. Also, we will NOT have alternates/backups for the finals.
Password will be released once the database is done. The web site listing the selection order will be updated with the above information this afternoon.

Tom,
I don't think anyone in this thread flipped out so to speak with their comments. By if my comments were rude to you, then I apologize. See, another spin on these posts if that those you mentioned assumed you didn't make any mistakes and we were confident in your compentence, but that for whatever reason the rules changed (which you have clearly said they could at your disgression). Shaefling, on the other hand, assumed you goofed and clearly showed no confidence in the GM. I believe Shaefling owes you an apology. :)

Tom- I'd also recommend you put the updated selection order in the top of the thread. Some people may not scroll down and read all this blabbering and miss it.

I really appreciate all the hard work Tom has put into Mogul Challenge and I hope he runs the next Challenge and many after that.
We would be hard pressed to find anyone who is so totally honest and so totally impartial and as dedicated as he is to the idea of a BBMO competition like Mogul Challenge.
Having said that I knew that Tom had made a mistake. I confirmed it before placing my post. It was no big deal though as mistakes sometimes happen although I have to say I think this is the first mistake he has made over the entire time he has been running the Mogul Challenge which is a remarkable accomplishment.
I also knew for a certainty he would correct the mistake and he did so pretty much in record time. So I was never worried and my comments were made not to criticize Tom but to calm everybody else down.

just to clarify, i wasnt "over-reacting" at all. i firmly believe that any of us should speak out if we feel there is an error, as there was. and since we cannot correct the error, we had to voice out and be heard and hope.
because the game belongs to us as much as it does to clay and dee and james and tom and whoever else there is that holds the rights or has worked on the game since its inception and its continuing development. mogul is all our baby.
on that note, congratulations on making the finals gfunk.

All overreactors should be disqualified from all future Mogul competititions.
Just kidding!!

Since I'm going first, would it be ok if I joined early?

George can join early, but everyone else MUST wait for their time slot.
Even if the person selecting in front of you has picked their team, you MUST wait until your specified time. This is how we ensure there is no cheating and everyone picks on the correct schedule.
I know this may seem stupid and not make much sense, but it's the way it has to go.
By the way, instead of throwing a fit over the fact I made one error, I'd rather you had emailed or PM'ed me so I could correct it sooner. Rather than posting angry flames all over the boards without even bringing it to my attention.

Tom -
While part of my last post was in jest (the part about Shaef owing you an apology). Most of it was serious. I assummed you did NOT make a mistake. I figured that probably too many teams finished in debt, so you had to add some other teams.
Whle I realize and have seen you take a lot of grief from less appreciative players over the course of this tournament, I don't think anyone here was "throwing a fit". Don't be so defensive and quick to defend yourself, I don't think anyone here was attacking you. Just folks voicing their opinions.
BTW, forcing everyone (but 1st pick) to follow the timeslots makes perfect sense. Otherwise, any player who picks early would have to make sure every player who picks before him has picked. Once that got down to the 10 or so pick, there is bound to be a player that screwed up, and that would screw the entire selection process up.
Tom, sounds like you need a little appreciation, so I'll say it again. Thanks for the tournament, its been a blast. If you are so inclined to run another one, I'd bet you'd get volunteers to help you out.

khkoenig,
I think you got a bit hasty there. Maybe you missed the post(s), but you aren't supposed to pick until your time slot. I guess it doesn't affect anything as long as everyone else doesn't follow in your footsteps.
I would hate to give Tom a hard time after he asked us to follow directions so nicely.
Whoever is third can keep this from getting out of hand by waiting their turn.

khkoenig has been removed. Hopefully he will wait for his time slot to join.
I will check the league a few minutes before khkoenig's real time slot, which I think is 7:10. If he joins before that, I'll remove him again.

Yes, I did not see Takaplan's earlier post about letting George pick the first spot and no one else. However, I will also be away from my computer at 7:10pm. (Not that it matters to anyone but me, but this is the only time I can get with my physical therapist). What is the harm in my selecting prior to 7:10pm? It certainly is no different from George picking before 7:00pm.
Tom, I have defended your actions and your work on the Challenge. You've done a great job. But I disagree (obviously) with your decision here. I have no choice but to try to sign up for the team I want prior to 7:10pm (and should get, since I worked hard in Challenge 2 to get to this spot.)

My only real concern was that the selection process might get out of hand. I have no other bit.ch.es. or concerns.
I have no interest in being a whistle blower however it may seem.
I'm only protecting my own interest.
You have a good reason to pick early.
