I personally have enjoyed the mogul challenge leauges one hundred times more than any other league I've been in. They've been the most competitive leauges that I've been in to date.

Why have they been the most competetive?
In my opinion, there is the hope of a reward. In leagues where owners don't even talk to each other, there is no reward. Bragging rights are worthless if there is no one to brag to.
Leagues that start out well die when there is no reward for staying on. Want owners to hang around? Give them a reason to.
Lets play for something! In the Challenge finals, I may only be playing for a copy of a football game, a very good football game, but winning and getting that prize and knowing you are the only one who did is the sweetest feeling.

More if not all of these leagues need to have prizes. I would have no problem paying a little extra on my membership to pay for winning incentives. Even if I never won, my obsessive behavior, which is typical of fantasy baseball players, would keep me going, never losing sight of the prize.
The possibilities are enormous! Have an annual prize like a big screen tv. Tickets to baseball games. Or even small things like copies of your wonderful products, coupons off of future products, t-shirts autographed by the design teams (hot item!).
:D
Maybe you could design a player with our names attached to it. Or give us the ability to change the name of a Farm hand. I would love that!
And here is a real favorite. Let's play for money! Give prizes every five or ten seasons. They don't have to be big. You could even give free months of membership. That would be worth cash to me.
These are just some ideas. This is what would motivate me and I'm sure many others to stay in leagues more than a few seasons.
With a more rewarding online game, I feel that you would draw a larger customer base. Even though it does complicate things it would be worth it.
Hek, if I knew I could win a copy of Mogul 2K4 signed by the design team, I'd be in it to win it Baby!

Well, not to offend you but this isnt a Microsoft that they run and I know its been said before about free subscriptions but since they are planning on having more in the future.

t-shirts autographed by the design teams (hot item!). I would like that it would be pretty cool

Sorry, but I think that Season tickets for any team around here (Boston) would drive them into Chapter 11 Bankraupcy because 3rd Deck patriots tickets are $50 each. I would like that as well.

well willthebeast, that's what sponsors are for.
Something big like season tickets or a tv would be provided by an advertiser once the customer base was large enough.
Just a pipedream I know, but such things are done this way.

Not following the Microsoft reference at all though.

Atucally, I named this name after my 14/15 year old Basset Hound who sleeps out side.

The microsoft think was about the size of the company and the money the head of the company. Clay is worth only 1/54 of what will is worth:D
Bill Gates $54,000,000,000
Clay Dreslough $1,000,000,000

About the sponsors I thought you meant that Sports Mogul would be buying the stuff.

Wow, Clay is worth a cool billion....

On another note, if you're looking for leagues that are constantly competitive and rewarding, the Mogulers, Baseball Mogulers, and Equalized Mogulers are all great leagues. We've established a "Super-Active" league in EqM, and I believe all 3 are full to the brim. These are the only leagues I would consider being in, as I dropped out of the Mogul Challenge to stay here. What's rewarding isn't a prize, but the bragging rights over friends, and that your team will be on the webpage(when those darn Dodgers eventually win it...). But that's just me. I'm sure I'd like a prize, too, but BBMO already offers more than most online games. It provides a community very open to newcomers, and very close at the same time. Newbies and old dogs alike are all welcomed with open arms. That's well worth my money.

OK, If I ever have a free spot I will consider joining yours,
What each employee at Sports Mogul is worth (in my opinion)
James is worth 1/2 of Clay at $500,000,000
Ian is worth ony 1/2 of James at $250,000,000
The moderators are each worth only $50,000,000

Look directly under my name on the left. Notice that message about the Yankees.

Prizes for top scorers might prove interesting, ...for those in the lead. As it became clear that a player had no chance to win, might he not quit the league and join a new league?

I have also heard that it will promote cheating by the commish.

The current game design eliminates the ability to give out prizes. How does one manage to monitor collusion? (without a moderator like the challenge leagues)

I agree prizes woudl be cool, but like Eric said, bragging rights over friends do it for me. As well as league longevity, records, a sense of "history." Maybe sportsmogul will hire me to make high quality sites for leagues agreeing to pay more :-) aaaaaah it's only a dream.

I'm going to post a thread with some upgrades however, that I think woudl be very beneficial.

just because I have the yankees in my challenge league doesn't mean I like the real Yankees. I despise the real Yankees. My in game name is marinersfan btw.

Still sorry about that name thing. lol

About 6 months or so ago and although no one from BBMO has responded to this thread at the time when it first came up they had said that this would be impossible as the commish just has to much power over the leagues they run,as well as my estimed(or however you spell it) colleague sunzfan said there would be collusion problems all over the place.Like Eric said the three headed Mogulers 20 day sims are very competitive I'd have to say at least as competitive as the challenge leagues.I guess my point is if you look hard enough you should be able to find at least three leagues that are competitive as well as very fun to be a part of thus not making prizes neccesary.:)
