Ok, so the odds are I'll never see Hockey Mogul, but FWIW that's what I'd really like to see.

chris, the description and the screenshots of the game look great,
it might be a game id enjot as much as BBMO, which scares me.

ive wasted enough time playing BBMO! my girlfriend would kill me.

i encourage anyone without a girlfriend (or with a very understanding one) to try this game out.

it looks very fun.

I have been playing the Eastside Hockey Manager for months and it is great, the new version EHM: Franchise Edition will be out this fall/winter.
I can see why other sports manager developers don't make a hockey manager sim program, they couldn't even come close to the EHM series.

Eastside blows FHL out of the watter. FHL is got to be the WORST hockey sim program this side of HLS. It's completely unrealistic, matter of fact, I'm in a league where Pat Fallon is one of the top raited players. I would love to see Sports Mogul build a hockey sim, at least it could be more realistic.

Eastside can now be found in the EHM Game section of Fantasy Hockey (http://www.fhockey.com) with updates every week.

and Franchise Edition is coming out very soon...i hope.

NHL Eastside Hockey Manager is now out in case you're interested.

Details can be found at sigames.com, along with the chance to purchase the game via. download (gameplay.com do mail order deliveries worldwide if you want it on CD and can't get it locally, the American retail release will be in the next couple of months if you're from America and want to purchase at retail).

Hope this helps,

Marc

I just got Eastside Hockey Manager last night, and it is the deepest sim game I've ever played. My only knock on the game is the inability to fast sim your own game, you always have to watch the 20+ min play by play.

By the way EHM2005 came out a little while back which was a revised and updated version of the original EHM title, the American release of it is imminent now (which includes the latest stuff on the NHL etc.):

Info on the EHM2005 update:

Features

A fresh new look for 2005 including a fully skinnable user interface, the ability to use right mouse clicking as well as increased resolution
Unrivalled hockey content updated for 2005, featuring over 20 playable leagues, a comprehensive database of 3,200 teams and in excess of 32,000 players and staff
Users can take advantage of the new 2D snapshot view to reveal player positioning second-by-second whilst coaching the game.
Detailed rules and regulations of in game competitions, including eligibility, discipline rules and important league dates
Brand new training camps allow you to test try-outs and see how new players fit in.
Expanded international tournaments - enabling managers of both senior and junior international squads to experience the full annual calendar of games
Improvements on NHL Eastside Hockey Manager

Revamped scouting giving you detailed information on potential acquisitions such as player comparisons, report cards and career projections.
Team reports, which now included information on whose hot and who’s not in the roster. New depth charts allow you to get an accurate overview at anytime of your organisation. Keep an eye on the up-and-coming talent, as well as analysing stats such as your best shooter, best enforcer and even your most overrated players
Player Bio Screen with an overview of all the players in the game as well as their seasons stats, career record and up-and-coming milestones
Extended statistics as well as a much requested ‘Hot or Not’ report feature.
More feedback than ever before on trade negotiations. Computer teams now provide feedback on their reasons for rejecting your offers. You can now set your own team needs and requirements
Appease a tetchy board by firing your head coach if you get a run of bad results.
Additional financial planning for your roster, allowing you to effectively manage your player wages budgets for future seasons

(more and screenshots can be found on sigames.com)

Hope this helps,

Marc

It still will not let you make your own teams/leagues, will it?

There's an editor kicking around on one of the unofficial sites which will allow you to make your own teams and edit players etc.

(although you will have to retain the league structure from one of the existing leagues, there are a fair few in there though so that doesn't hold you back too much)

Well I do like most of the things in Eastside Hockey whatnot. But my dream has always been, y'know, in fictional leagues, something like a re-envisioned WHA (*coughs*). Milwaukee, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Hartford, Seattle, Quebec, Winnipeg...

...unfortunately, I have not found a game which does everything I want... y'know, reasonably accurate financial simulation (Mogul does a pretty good job, honestly), expansion drafts, bright, colorful uniforms, lots of immersion, detailed arena setups... things like that.

Also, alternate rule sets. Fun things like setting how ties work (no overtime whatsoever, five on five, four on four, shoot out, continuous OT where every game has a winner), which penalties to enforce strictly and which to enforce loosely (and being able to set and create your own referees!), allowable goaltender pad size (small, medium, large), goaltender mobility (stuck in the crease, free range but subject to checking, etc.), red line/no red line, penalty shot frequency, and other fun things like that. But it may be difficult to accurately simulate such things...

Hockey is not terribly popular for video games... especially the managerial end, which is sad. So as it stands, unless I learn how to program, it looks like I will just have to settle for using my imagination! :)

I'd still like to see a Mogul hockey issue if anyone is listening.

Seriously I would love to see a Hockey Mogul as well.... something similar with a lot of the same features as Baseball Mogul already has... You could almost use the baseball as a base really... As far as rosters if you could set it up to use the info in NHL VIEW a program made for roster tweaks and edits for the EA NHL series you'd already have a pretty good start roster to work with online... fictional leagues could just use the create player feature in existence....

Wondering just how hard it would be to do this.... hard or not I think it would definitly sell and sell well for SM to have this!
