Hey guys. I got FM 2003 the other day and I started playing it and its lots of fun. I was around for the first football mogul and released the first full databse of nfl players and teams and started the first league which ran for nearly 2 years. Now I'm back and I want to do it all again for FB Mogul 2003. Right now I have started building another new databse patch. So far I have yet to change anything on the actual rosters themselves but have done a lot of other things that while seemingly unimportant affect the economics of the game immensely. Here are the things I have done so far:

1) Real stadium and team names.
2) Fan loyalty is updated using statistical approach that is done dividing how many people goto the games versus the total amount of seats available for this year.
3) City populations are all adjusted to reflect 2000 census.
4) City altitudes are corrected.
5) Per capita income is corrected for all cities using 2000 census.
6) Set an 80 million dollar cap.
7) City latitudes are longitudes are real. The closer another NFL team is to that team, the less money that team will make.
8) Added a few cities and deleted ones with populations under 150,000. More to be added soon.

Next part will be finding all the players that actually have retired and taking them out of the game and adjusting the rosters to show how they currently look. Hopefully that will happen soon but school is hectic right now. I promise an update soon. If your interested in getting a sneak peek at the databse then email me at pardonthat@hotmail.com

Ok well I am now going through team by team and updating the rosters. I've only went through like 3 right now. It's taking about an hour and a half to 90 minutes a team and its finals week at IU. Anyway I'm trying to work as much as I can on it. So far I've gotten the Patriots, Colts and Steelers totally done. More updates as soon as possible.

Another 4 hours of work and another three teams done. Add the Rams, Bears and the Vikings to the list. I'll probably release it when I get about 15 teams done so you guys can check it out.

Atlanta, Kansas City, and New Orleans are now done. That brings the total up to 8 of the 32 teams. I just got done with two of my three finals today too which is good. BTW I'm not currently doing anything with the offensive linemen but every single other player is being added, rearranged, changed the ratings(by changing the predicted stats) and well just totally updated. The reason I'm not doing offensive line:there are not very many hard statistics on OL. I have no idea where to find the statistics for the amount of penalties they have. I'm still averaging 90 minutes per team and I keep trying to get that number down but I can't. Anyway any commenst would be appreciated. It may be a afew days before the next update.

I know I said I was done for a while but I am actually enjoying doing this. The three teams that I just got done with are the Jets, Packers, and the Texans. The Texans rosters were soooooo messed up in the original game. They probably cut and added like 20 people after this roster was made. Nonetheless they are updated now. Maybe I'll do a few more tonight if I have time.

I will be releasing this patch within the next week. Most likely in a few days. It's not just a roster patch. It does a lot more and the results are looking very realistic. Main problem being that runningbacks stats are too good. Heres the teams I have done.

Added teams:
1)Steelers
2)Patriots
3)Colts
4)Rams
5)Bears
6)Vikings
7)Atlanta
8)Kansas City
9)New Orleans
10)Texans
11)Packers
12)Jets
13)Eagles
14)Miami
15)Tampa
16)San Diego
17)San Fran
18)Denver
19)Giants
20)Raiders
21)Seattle
22)Buffalo
23)Dallas
24)Cincinnati
25)Washington
26)Tennessee
27)Carolina
28)Cleveland

First I wanna thank you for taking your time to do this.Much appreciated. Ive been waiting for an update for awhile since their are so many mistakes they made in the game. I downloaded your file and started it up and went over the ratings to see if their were still any mistakes.
You did a perfect job on most teams and I was happy to see alot of the changes. But here are the few mistakes I noticed on my first skim through. You may or may not agree.

1. I auto sort the Lions and Dave Dickenson ends up starting with 59 ratings so I check his predicted stats and they are inflated. Obviously should be Harrington , McMahon , Detmer.
2. Green Bay - According to NFL.com and every Green Bay Game ive watched the Packers dont play Maurice Smith yet he has a 87 rating and plays over Tony Fisher and Najeh Davenport?
3. Green Bay Safety Antuan Edwards is alot better than Matt Bowen and Bowen plays ahead?
4. Minnesota QB Todd Bouman you make terrible since he hasnt played this year and 3rd string. He is definately the backup to Dante Culpepper and Bouman played well last year enough to have respectable ratings.
5. Oakland Punter Eddie Howard gets a 100 rating in punting and starts over Shane Lechler?
6. And last Charles Woodson is not 5th DB on the Raiders he has to be at worst 3rd so I think a 57 rating in pass coverage is far off.

Thanks for listening. Let me know if anyone agrees.

WOW I decided now to sim the year 2002 a few times.
Here is some of my findings.
Like I said in my previous post Dave Dickenson for the Lions starts over Joey Harrington and puts up God-like #'s with 65 ratings....81.7 comp% 5430 yrds 46TD/6int 138.4 rating ...NFL RECORDS
Priest Holmes gets 35-37 overall Touchdowns each time
6 rushers in one year get 1900+ yards
7 recievers over 120 catches and up to 161 catches
2-3 2000 yard recievers
QBS like Jim Miller, Clint Stoerner, Quincy Carter, Matt Hasselback, Sage Rosenfals, and Jon Kitna amazing years!!!!!!
And Travis Henry 2404 yrds and 24TD's
And Lions DB Todd Lyght gettin 2nd most tackles in the league over Brian Urlacher??

I dont know what to say....Does this game even have the possibility to be accurate??????

I know the stats are inflated but I don't know what to do. The problem is that if you look at the predicted stats I gave them they correspond to this years stats. However what the game does is somehow inflate this statistics incredibly. I don't know what to do about it either. I have tried making the running backs ratings lower and stuff but it doesnt matter the game will just find other way of making the players stats fantastic. Another thing is the game makes absolutely horrendously rated QB's have awesome ratings sometimes. It's not unusual to see QB's that have stats like 59, 59, 59, 59 to throw 40 TD's and 1 INT. What the smurfsmurfsmurfsmurf is that all about? But I do have to admit players that didn'yt have stats this year that I didnyt really know anything about I just put what stats they did have. If I knew they had been in jured all year...ala jevon kearse then I used last years stats. Yeh I'll fix Dave Dickerson. Arggggh. I can't believe I did that. As far as Hasselback and Kitna...they didn't really have that bad of years this year. Not great but not bad. I think Hasselnback will finish with 14 TD's 9 INT and Kitna 17 TD 15 INT and 3100 yards. Not great but he is on Concy. As far as the other 3 you mentioned they most certainly are horrible. I'll see if I can do anything to make them bad. The only thing I can think of helping the RB's and QB's stats are that Clay(game designer) needs to make a patch to handle the predicted stats most accurately. After all predicted stats work just fine in Baseball Mogul. Your right about Maurice Smith...I had used cbs.sportsline for him and they gave me last years stats for this years. Anyway I'll try and address some of the other things you list too and update the file asap. Thanks for the comments and keep 'em coming.

You were right about Bouman. Last years stats were decent. I fixed it. Eddie Howard is 100 in yours??? The stats I gave him put him at a 74...hmmmmm Lechler is a great punter. I don't understand how the game could give you different ratiungs. Sounds like maybe yet another bug. Also I changed Woodson to a 71 cause I know hes had an injury ridden year. He is still the 3rd CB but when you have Rod and Tory James thats a lineup that hard to break into. Anyway I dont know what to do about the bad rated QB's playing great or about the good rated QB's all playing like Kurt Warner's first year as QB. It's up to the developers. Thanks for the insite and more would be helpful. BTW I posted ther new in a post a few above this.

Thanks for the quick reply....
Yes I do agree that Hasselback hasnt had that bad of a year but he ends up gettin 72% cop% 3477 yrds 23TD/5 int 115.8 rating
and Kitna 67.1 3872 yrds 25TD/11int .....That I can handle, since they are god-like
I keep simulating multiple years to see how they change....All shitty backup QB's are gods compared to Peyton Manning and other respectable QB's

I know how you did the stats with what they got this year and all, but to make these players not as good as they are becoming you have to make their stats accurate to how good they really are.
Example: For a bad QB make his completion % like 50-55% only and give him like equal td's to int's or even more int's. Because usually the problem is that his predicted stats are like 50 completions to 67 attempts which is a high percentage and they have like 3 td's to 0 int's which will make them be highly likely to throw tons of TD's to Int's if the player starts. So if you change the player to average with the 50-55 completion% and equal TD's to int's he shouldnt become great.

Their is no reason a QB with rating 55-65 should throw 40 td's to 2 int's.

These Qb's I have noticed get too good.
Henry Burris
Dave Dickenson
Danny Wuerffel
Tory Woodbury
Randy Fasani
Clint Stoerner
M Tuiasosopo
Sage Rosenfalls
Josh Booty
Shaun Hill
They all replace the real starters 2002 to 2003.
And RB Joe Burns and Kijana Carter suck and still get good stats.

Well no matter what you can do, It is all much appreciated.

cody8200
12-26-2002, 02:19 PM
if randy fasani is still doing well then all hope is probably lost. I gave him his real satsts for this year which are as follows

3 games
3 games started
50 att
17 complete
5 INT
195 yards
0 TD's

now those stats are horrendous and give him ratings like a 50 on accuracy and on completion. So if the game still makes him good.... Anyway I did make most of the other QB's that you mentioned stats considerably worse then they already are. I also addressed as many of the other ones as I could. Look for the file to be uploaded up above again.

No I think your on the right track with that. That should do the job. Some players just may have potential which we cant completely control.
I downloaded your new file. I think I found where the errors occur.
Chi QB Henry Burris 32/35 completions
Miami QB Sage Rosefalls 50/45 completions?
QB Josh Booty 38/32 completions?
QB Shaun Hill 50/25 completions?
RB Free Agent Kijana Carter 10 td's should be lowered.

So somehow some Qb's magically have more completions than attempts!

One thing that would make things more accurate also would be to make each shitty player projected stats at 16 games not a low number because when its set at 4 games everything gets multiplied.

Thanks again
