Guys at Sports Mogul:
There have been a lot of postings in the past six months about bugs and fixes. I'm wondering what the priorities are for the next version of Baseball Mogul. My suggestions here are what I think will be the most desirable changes.
#1 - Computer AI fixes. The main problem is that the computer signs too many players and always gets into debt. The computer should set a budget for FARM, SCOUTING and MEDICAL first and only then spend the remainder on talent. This will help the computer teams a lot and also leave more talent in the free agent pool for humans.
#2 - Free Agent Salary Demands - Veteran free agents tend to have very excessive salary demands. It should be easier to resign veteran free agents without bankrupting the team. As it is, I always let these guys go. I can always pick up free agents cheaper.
#3 - Free Agent Prices - Once the free agency period begins, the price drop between rounds is very slow. Often high quality players are not signed by the end of the free agency period. I think the prices should decay faster. This would allow the top players to be signed and with a team by April 1. Also, prices should not rise once the season begins. Definitely!
#4 - Player Ratings - When a new league begins, the average rating of a position player is about B-. Very quickly this rises to A or A+. My New York team does not have any starters who have an contract rating below A. (I think six out of nine are A+). Granted there may be scouting issues but I've had the #1 scout just about forever. And despite having all these A and A+ hitters, my team batting average is just .244. To me, an A+ rating means you should be hitting around .330 or better, not .245. It seems as a league gets older and older the ratings get very inflated. I think that the general process of Sports Mogul Baseball are fine. I just think you guys need to change how players are rated once the league has been going for a while. Take a look at my New York team in Real Baseball League. I think you'll be surprised and also understand my point.
Thanks. Please let me know if these things are fixable in time for the next version of BBMO. Thanks again.

Also..
For next years version, what about having a priorities list for rookies? I invest in farming and get like 4of's when I already have 3! Where am I gonna put them all?? I think you should be able to have a check list and get the best available player for that position.
Also, I like the new strageties link but...is there any way to have this without other teams knowing what strageties you are taking? It's a great idea, I just don't want people to know how I'm playing.
Players...in every league I'm in, the same players do the same for about 95% of the time...Now Veteran's I can understand since they put the same numbers up year after year but the some of the farm players...They end up the same as long as you invest. Can't players be different from league to league so GM's don't go after the same players all the time?
Anyway of having a chatroom in leagues? I know this is alittle off the wall but it would make leagues alot better! GM's who wish not to give out e-mail or IM's could talk in here.
Any way of contracting or adding teams? Leagues that have GM's leave and have a hard time refilling...cuts the teams down would help alot. On adding teams or being able to move to a different city or building a new stadium...that would also be some great features....It's just some idea's!
I would love to hear a response on this!

To add to Lucidi's point about knowing another team's strategy--I think it should be linked in with scouting. so if you don't spend a lot on it, you'll have no idea what the other team is really doing, but if you do, you'll know their every move. It would make the playoff matchups more interesting, certainly.

Here's a response:
Shut the smurfsmurfsmurfsmurf up. You made your points and I'm sure they were read so you don't have to keep bumping this.
And stop offering your suggestions. I have a see a post from SportsMogul that says, "georgefc, please post opinions here". You suggestions are obvious and have been pointed out since....like last April (if not sooner). Save yourself some time.

Building stadiums = bad idea. Think of it this way. When I first started playing the CD game, I would just hoard cash for the first few seasons, sometimes at the expense of my team, just so I could build one awesome stadium. Just think if the whole league did that. The Montreals and Kansas Cities would continue to lose for a several seasons, just so they can build a new stadium. Meanwhile, the New Yorks and LAs would just continue to rack up the wins, since all the espensive free agents (the ones who are usually good) could get them even cheaper, and can now bury the no spending stadium wanters. Also, it has been confirmed in the past that when a league has too much money, it skews the attendance and revenue of the league. Now, I know you will say, 'well have them fix the AI.' Now, I'm not big on programing, but I think it might be possible that this might be part of the hard coding of the game, and could be a huge obstacle to overcome. That might be asking a lot at this time, when there are a lot more issues that require attention right now.
Moving teams to another city = bad idea. This could be very problematic for leagues. You will basically have teams racing to move their franchise to Washington D.C. or another large market city. Now, while I would love to see a Las Vegas Gamblers, it's not that big of a deal to me. If this was meant to work, there would have to be a lot of restrictions on it. Perhaps if the Commissioner was given strict power to control franchises from moving from place to place, then it would work. I don't think everyone should have the key to the kingdom though.
Chatroom in league = good idea. I can think of it now. Winter meetings, no more using three IM programs to find someone. No more windows popping up when I'm busy.
Priority List for Rookies = good idea. It's in the CD, and it helps when you can quide your farm system into acquiring the prospects you really need or will need. Not that I don't like getting the leagues best 2B prospect 3 years in a row. Yea, I can just trade one of them for another prospect, but I never keep the best one.
Strategies Page = agree with point. That's a good point. But keep in mind, that every team has people scouting other teams, so their tendencies are pretty well known. Like it was suggested, have your scouting directly affecting your knowledge of what another team does is a good idea.
Known rookies = agree with point. It saddens when I join the league, and I can instantly tell who is gonna be the team to beat based on the rookies he acquired in the first year of the game. Non-veteran players should have more randomness in their development in the majors. I've seen some not make it sometimes, but that is usually because of poor farm spending or playing a guy too early. We need less predictabillity in this department.
Contracting and Adding teams = decent idea. I do think there should be an option at the creation of the league though either allowing or disallowing this option. If a group of guys want to play in a small or big league so be it. But at the same time, a lot of guys just want to play the game and like the stability of a pre set league. Plus, the MLBPA has a major voice in this topic, so after the start the league, the 'players' should have a voice too. Ok, so that's might be asking too much, but you did want realism. :)
Computer AI fixex = good idea. It would be nice if the AI was as smart as us. Unfortunately, this topic has been beat to death. The staff knows what they need to work on, and general post saying the AI is bad isn't helpful. If you really want to help them, BE SPECIFIC. Don't just say that the computer spends too much money and goes into debt. Look at what is happening that is causing the problems. 'Why is the computer overspending' is what you should be asking yourself. When you make your complaint about the AI, offer evidence of what is going wrong, or offer sound theories of what is going wrong. If you don't do it like that, then you just sound like someone who doesn't like to compete against the computer.
Free agent salary demands and prices = more complaining. Once again, this just sounds like complaining, and you want things to be easier. Players go into the season unsigned all the time because they wanted too much money. I have been watching these forums for a long time, and this arguement does not have a lot of followers. There is a reason for that, it's not that big of a problem.
Player Ratings = beat to death. Look, the staff has acknowledged that the player quality improves to an unrealistic point. They are working on tweaking the system right now, and when they do that, I believe that the stats and results will once again balance out. Just don't start complaining after they do it that you can't get enough good players. This is what you asked for. If you don't get good players then, that's your own fault.
