My Braves team in League 91 supposedly clinched the Wild Card on September 26, 2002 - according to the Headlines - but after losing 2 of 3 to New York in the last series of the season, we're now tied with the Mets for second in the East and first in the wild card at 93-69 (as of October 1st).

Why does the system say that the Braves clinched the Wild Card? Shouldn't there be a playoff to determine the Wild Card winner since two teams are tied?

The playoffs haven't started yet, so maybe the tiebreaker will be simulated first thing in the morning, but this still seems odd to me. The Braves are bolded (i.e. in the playoffs) in the standings but New York isn't italicized (i.e. eliminated). Has anyone seen this before? Is this a bug?

There will be a 1 game playoff, during the sim the first round is played. However, in the meantime, the game does misreport that one team is already in the playoffs, highlighting the team who's first letter comes first in the alphabet.

You were right. The game did simulate (and I won, thankfully). But that is an odd bug. It would have been pretty annoying if I'd thought I was in the playoffs (although I knew that mathematically I never was) and then lost the one game playoff. The headline should have read something like "Braves clinch at least a tie for Wild Card berth." It shouldn't have said that the Braves had clinched a spot outright in the playoffs.

Clay and I were discussing this the other day.

His Philadelphia team was tied with NYN for 1st, and I was wondering who was going to get 1st and who would get the Wildcard.

So he's working on at least getting the 1-game playoff to happen BEFORE the post-season starts, so everyone knows where they stand.
