Just for my info..what are points equal to? For instance..is 1 point equal to 1 million $ or what? And is there a way to make it actual dollars?

They can't make it into dollars for some sort of legal reason, I think. But to answer the rest of your question, take a look at A-Rod. He starts out signed at 125 points a season. His real contract is $25.1 million a year, so you can figure that each point equals $200,000. This is also the major league minimum.

However, the new labor agreement is in effect for next season. The new agreement raised the minimum salary to $350,000. How will this work when BBMO gets revved next season? If 1 point equals the new minimum dollar value, everyone's contracts (as they are now) will go down. A-Rod will only be making 71 points! If that is the case, signing contracts will be a little more difficult. The difference between signing a guy for an extra year at five points more becomes bigger - three quarters of a million dollars bigger! So, player's demands would probably have to be reworked (depending on how it is coded). Not to mention revenue, as well...

An option might be to put the value of a point at half the minimum wage, and have a minimum contract of 2 points. That would keep it close to what we have now, in terms of the contract demands and such. Close enough that possibly there wouldn't be a need for other changes to the economy.

Of course, they could always keep things exactly as they are now, and not consider the new labor agreement. I'm sure that would certainly work as well.

Has there been any "official" thought on this? It's something that occurred to me when they signed the new deal.

(I believe all of the numbers in this are correct, but I could be mistaken in any of them - it wouldn't be the first time it's happened!)
