The forum is a great way of communicating but there is room for improvement.

A feature that would be great is if there was a link when you placed players in the forum. For example, when you put an email adress down it automatically turns blue and if you click on it you go straight to sending a letter.

When people put down names of players they want to trade; if you want a player you have to go to the team, hunt down the player and click. If there can be a link right from the forum it would be very convient. People wouldn't have to write all the stats.

James would this be worth implmenting? Am I clear, if not say so.

John -

That's a very clever idea, and it would certainly be useful for a lot of people.

Unfortunately, it would be very hard to implement in practice.

We built Baseball Mogul Online ourselves, but we bought the discussion board software from a vendor who specializes in it.

Ian built some bridges that automatically link players from their team's summary page to special discussion boards for that league. But other than that, the two systems run independently.

So trying to make hotlinks to the players would involve quite a lot of rewriting the bulletin board code...

Now, it's currently possible to do something similar but not as elegant. If you paste a link like this:
http://www-1.sportsmogul.com/bb/bg.pl?page=batter&id=5634

you can make a link to a player scouting report. In this case, it's Darrin Erstad from my team Boston in league F.

BUT the way our game is designed, only people from league F can actually see his scouting report. If you click the link above you will be taken to Darrin Erstad, but it will be in the online leage that you most recently played in.

This is okay for posting in league-specific discussion boards, but does not work for general public discussion boards.

If you want to try posting links like this, call up the scouting report of the player, then right-click (in IE for Windows) and select Properties. In the dialog box that appears you will see the URL of the page. Highlight that URL and press CTRL-C to copy it. Then go to the forum and paste what you have copied.

It's not elegant, but it's a start, and you can do it now.

Thanks for your suggestion, and I hope this helps.
