Now I get an error message saying I must edit the post within 60 minutes of posting it.

Whats up?

Hi, Tom -

I adjusted the settings of the discussion board to put a 60 minute timeout on editing posts.

I was trying to close a loophole to prevent people from, say, posting offensive material then deleting it later.

Do you frequently edit posts long after putting them up?

If this is a big problem, I'm open to discussions about a better way to administer things.

Cheers,
James Grove

In some of the Active GM leagues we have a Trading Block post, and each team posts the players that are up fo trade. We edit the posts throughout the season.

Well...In the active fastsims we use a trading block and a waiver wire which requires you to edit your post.

Basically what DBS is talking about. If we can't edit its gonna be a lot more confusing to do.

Thanks for the quick response!

The ability to edit posts is very useful in the private leagues and could be useful in the normal leagues if it was active. As has been stated GM's edit their own posts to have a current listing of their players on waivers or on the trading block.

James, maybe you can make a system, not letting people to post swear words or offensive languages, like someone trying to post a post of swear words, when they click submit, the screen say, "sorry, but you cannot post those language in here" or something like that.

bbm,
the sports mogul forums are purchased from a developer...clay did not write them himself. there is a filter option in vbulliten (ive run my own for sites that ive developed).

LOL

I talk about band with a HD space all the time, an not being able to delete/change a post might add to that problem ( if it is even a problem to begin with :)

The private league boards are going to turn into a mess.

As far as I have known dropping a F-bomb was not permited anyway, it just get **** out when you did.

Where is my hitting ????

sorry random thought

Okay.

Since you guys have come up with a creative use of the Edit Posts feature, I have turned it back on.

Sorry for creating confusion. I didn't realize anyone was using it on a regular basis.

Thanks for the feedback,
James
