Which years do you most enjoying playing Baseball Mogul Online?

Chiming with my two cents....

I like the mid years, because you still have some "known" quantities, but the strategy of building a winning team has started to take effect.....

Clay I don't know if you mind this, I saw some rookies players name include a bad word, it's the other way of saying butt, FOR EXAMPLE, tomBUTT. So i would rather use the real names.

You don't have a "No Preference" up there, which is where I fall. They each have their own quirks to them. But I like the different challenges.

I think the challenge comes when the players names are unfamiliar. More research is needed to determine who the top players are year after year.

I actually think the real fun begins after more than 20 years of play. Could you tell me just how long leagues are going to run?

I prefer the later years as I have in all the mogul games I have played. The main reason is that I don't have a preconceived notion of how good players should be.
For instance, In my Houston league (beta 80 ) Bagwell hit 72 homers. Which is nice, but a bit unrealistic. So , without the chains of reality that shackle every player in today's game, I find these types of performances easier to imagine.
I also like the feeling of bringing up a ficticious player who turns out to be all-star calibre. I feel more attached and more responsible for the successes of these players than that of those who we all know are Hall-of-Famers.

because that is actually the team i built, not the one i was saddled with in the beginning. I actually would rather start from scratch with some young prospects and then start with bidding on free agents(all players except the young playerswould be free agents). That way you could control the expense from the start. What do you guys think?

...no pictures! Would it be possible for Clay to come up with pix of his friends, or something, and have a unique database of pix for all the new players?

Probably not, but it's a good idea anyway

godard,
they did do that in the cd version...it would be nice but it probably would take a ton of bandwidth. for me, i like 2005-on. It is a lot more fun when you have to scout out every player.

I love the later years, i think it would even be enjoyable to make some leagues with no real players (even though i know you spent all that money) and maybe even the option to make new teams, or have different numbers of teams, Id really like to be in a league with no DH's. Do you think there will be many options like these in a few weeks or would this take too much effort and space?

Sadly, I don't have that many friends.

But I have considered the idea of getting you all to send in some photos...

Anyone up for this?

That would be cool to have our pictures in the game. I always wanted to be a portly reliever like Rod Beck (aka Shooter) or even better "El Guapo".
Baseball has the best nicknames AND best hair (especially facial hair).

PS: The WS startes up soon! I'm all fired up.

I could send pictures of my softball team's players, Clay... but of course, you'd have to get licensing through our Properties division. :D

I like the mid years you get the name players but you also have to know when to bring in the new guys. Somtimes it's tough to let go on the vets though, hey even if edgar martinez is 45 i just can't cut him :D
