When the Mogul begins to have a fee, I think that it may be better to have a Flat Team Fee rather then a monthly fee. I think that per team, it should be like $10.00, this way, cheaters wouldnt join in for a month and just try to disrupt the league. Also, I think it would be a little more attractive then a monthly fee, and would probably bring more people to the pay leagues.

Just my 2cents. Whadd'ya guys think??

I agree with Chunky. I realize that Mogul Haven wants to turn a profit, while this may make it harder to project profits due to ongoing costs, I think it would make playing more attractive to the serious players. It will not preclude one and outs, but it would hinder them from screwing up more than one league during the process.

and of on a tangent he goes......

And were, beginner leagues, the serious players would not be affected. Someone would have to buys a couple of time to get into a serious league. Just a thought.

Also.... tangent 2.....

When newbies join, if they were given a "Grace" season or two to understand how the game works, you might not have as many frustrated players. It tokk me a couple of seasons to get the hang of it. If a newbie comes in a losses horribly the first time he pays in, he/she(no prejudice desired) might not pay for a second, but if the player gets a chance to see how it runs first, probable less likely to foul it up.

Just some added thoughts.....

One problem with the per-team fee is that our games continue on for multiple seasons.

Somebody could buy a team for $10 and play forever, letting the league roll on into the far distant future.

The monthly fees will be based on a certain monthly fee for a certain number of teams.

More on that soon.

I think the same thing can be accomplished by charging an initial fee for several months. Perhaps a $30 fee for 6 months, then $5 per month to renew. People would be less likely to come in, screw up a league, then leave. This would also insure that players remain for a longer term, and truly get addicted.

We had considered allowing users to sign up for multi-month contracts, but we are not allowed to charge a lump-sum up front. Our credit card processor stipulates that we can only charge for 30 days service at a time. They had too many complaints from the customers of other clients who wanted them to reverse large charges when they didn't like a service.

Also, we really don't want to discourage people from trying the game. Conventional Wisdom says that people don't buy content on the Internet. So we can't afford to make it even harder for people to sign up.

That's why we like the idea of regular monthly installments.

If the price for a slow sim and fast sim is the same price, wouldn't everyone wanna be in fast sim?

Not necessarily. I prefer slow sims. That way, I can check in on my team once a day, instead of once an hour, and still be able to keep up with my team. This works well for people who have jobs, school, or other things that keep them from the internet for several hours at a time.

Also, maybe instead of doing a lump sum for 6 months up front, you could do something like getting every sixth month free. Of course, that would require additional records, and since a lot of people will be signing up right when the game goes live, every six months, your income would be severely diminished. But it's a thought you guys might be able to make work.

I agree that you definitely get more bang for your buck with the current fast sim format.

Personally, I don't think either format is perfect. The current Fast Sim format has irregular finish times for important events, which make it difficult to schedule your day with MOB.

The slow sims are a complete drag from between the trading deadline and FA draft. Especially with no activity on the weekends.

However, it looks like they are addressing those problems.

I think the best solution would be to offer options to customers for billing (say, Monthly, Quarterly or Annually), giving a small discount for those who pay quarterly or annually.

James, if a credit card processor is giving you flak about service refunds, particularly if it handcuffs SportsMogul's revenue stream - I'd strongly advise looking for another service provider.

If my bank told me I couldn't charge a credit card for my services but 30 days at a time, I'd laugh all the way to another bank...
