Clay,

I think that the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction now. When I first began playing this game in FastSim6, there were many teams that hit over .300 for the TEAM average. Obviously this is rediculous. Thank you for addressing the problem. However, I think that you have addressed it too well ! :)

There are now 10 different pitchers in the FASTSIM6 that as of June 30 had ERAs under 2.00 I think that a little tweak back toward offensive rookies might solve this. This is definately preferable to what was going on before, but still not quite as realistic as it could be.

Still a great game, even if many leagues are dead.

By the time we reach over 2010, we should be very happy to get a BCCC rookie batter......

I'm in Fast Sim 44, that league is in the year 2010. I think a team ERA below 2.00 is quite achievable. An ERA between 2.00 and 3.00 is only about average in this league. I agree the pendulum has swung too far towards pitching. Batting needs to be improved a bit, but only a bit :)

It's now July 10 in FastSim 6 and 9 pitchers have ERA under 2, including 3 on my team (not that I'm complaining).. but it says something when I have a pitcher who's got an ERA of 1.73 and a record of 9-5.

By the way, my team ERA is 2.38 and it's only the 3rd lowest in the league

Clay said he is testing a patch an if it works will use it for the online version. To fix this problem.

So we will have to wait an see

Do you guys have unbalance toward one side to batting or pitching on the offline version???? Because it's not happening to me. Another question: do we have the same rookies name every year in differenet league online??

BBM -

The problem crops up many years in the simulated future.

The rookies that the simulation produced were a little bit too good at the plate. Consequently, as the veterans retired and the new guys took their place, the league batting average went up and up.

Clay adjusted it, but compensated a bit too much. So over time the batting averages went down and down.

Now he has added some feedback that reverses the course of the averages if it tends too far one way or another.

Due to chance, we can still get live ball or dead ball eras, if a slew of good or bad rookies comes out, but the game will now tend to correct itself over time.

So you may not have noticed the problem if you have not played many years into the future.

Cheers,
James

I was gonna' ask the same question as BBM. Do Rookie names pop up the same in different leagues? I have seen quite a few identical names in different leagues, and they are NOT common names.

Yes, that is what I have seen.

Same names, same players, just different leagues.

All leagues use the same name database which was extracted from one U.S. Zip Code. So if that list had a family named Swagglebutt, that name may show up in all the leagues, even though Swagglebutt isn't a common name nationwide.

If you have the CD-ROM, you can read the entire list in last.txt in the Names directory.

Didn't you say you wanna add some more players name from different country, For examples, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic. Not only Americans,to make the game more realistic.
