In Beta League 100 Hourly, the Colorado Rockies have a payroll of 800+, but their limit is only about 595. And they are still able to sign players! They just signed Jeff Weaver for about 61 points, and they put HUGE bids on other free agents (over 100 points each for Alfonzo and Garciaparra). Shouldn't their bids be cancelled out now? And how were they able to sign Weaver? The rules seems to state that a team with a payroll greater than its limit cannot sign a free agent- period.

In case it helps, Colorado has 184 points in cash and it is still November in the calendar year. Also, if Colorado zeroed out all of its expenses, it could raise its limit to about 725.

It seems they have, for all purposes, blocked everyone else out of the free agent process with their huge bids which they cannot afford to pay.

Thanks in advance-

It's either they get their high payroll after he bid high on the free agents, or there's a bug.

He probably bid on several free agents simultaneously. We're working on some solutions to prevent this, but he shouldn't be able to make any more bids if he's already over the limit. If so, that's a bug we should be able to fix.

he hasn't made any new bids, but the current ones are still standing, which I interpret to mean these players will sign with him unless he is outbid. Of course, in real life a player would not accept an offer from a team that is projected to go bankrupt halfway through the year. It just seems the free agent market is being destroyed in this year's offseason just because this guy was fooling around.

I appreciate your response, Clay, and any further input you have in this situation. I know you are trying to make the game the best it can be.

You don't thanks me?? :(
Anyway, again, the only way to prevent these pathetic players are to join private league, i guess there are still spots for Japherwaski league, so i hope you can join.

thanks to you also, BBM!

I still consider the issue unresolved....I mean, the game needs to protect against this sort of thing.
