My bullpen sucked last year so I had targeted some cheap. old stopgap guys who could give me some innings untill my prospects were ready next year.
I had looked ahead at guys who would be free agents this year and had Tim Worell and John Frascatore as possibilities on my list. I can't find them anywhere....Did they retire? How does the computer decide this? There are guys out there at 40+ still asking for a job but both these guys were 30something... Very strange.
Shouldn't they have gone through at least one offseason without anyone signing them before being retired?

Since the online game is based off the CD version, I would have to say the reason that you can't find the players is that once players become free agents, the computer evaluates all of them, and only lists the top 50 or so for position players, and another 50 or so for pitchers. Anyone who does not make the cut is forced into retirement.

I thought Clay fixed that and now they keep more than 140 FAs. I don't know. Those times sucked. There was this SS I drafted to a low revenue Seattle team a long time ago and I'll still remember his name. Joseph Campbell. Sounds pretty American. In his rookie year he had around 30 dingers and 100+ Ribbys. In his last year he was making 1 point and he blasted 40 while driving in 140. He asked for 75 points, I know, it's called bread and butter to us Yankee fans, but I couldn't afford it and thought I could get him for cheaper in the classic style bidding free agency. But he retired and was nowhere to be found because of his high asking prices, and was left off the list. I believe this was fixed a couple of months ago, though

In my league, we no longer have Sammy Sosa, Kerry Wood, or Troy Glaus. Those are the guys missing so far. I wish they could come back somehow.
