For some reason all of the good free agents are only demanding 1-3 points for long term deals. For example, I got Scott Rolen for 3 pts, Miguel Tejada for 1, Mark Kotsay for 3, Paul Konerko for 2, James Baldwin for 1 (In 2002-2003). Conversely, people that I have never heard of are asking for insane prices, like Augie Ojeda asking for 21 points for 1 year. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but I do know that it is a problem.
This could only happen if nobody in your league bid for him, and i believe there must be SOMEONE bid for him if your league is fill with all 30 active managers. The players ask for 1 points since no one even want them, so they have to force themselves to drop them their price. And now i am sure your league has no active manager except you.

It's possible that some of the players asking for lots of points were recently released by one of the teams.
When a player is released partway through the free agent season, they do not immediately lower their asking price to match the lowered demands of the other Free Agents. Instead, their asking price goes down over time.
Before we made that change, some users were releasing players at the very end of the FA bidding in order to snatch them back up for 1 point. They can't do that any more.
Also, I should ask what league you are in. If it is well into the future (2010 for example) then the big name players may all be getting old and losing their edge. In that case, they would not ask for much money any more, while the star players who became rookies in 2005 for example would be in the prime of their career.
I hope this helps,

Actually, I may have mis-stated the problem. The players are not being bid on, they are on the free-agent list and I have the option to sign them to 1-7 year deals. It is actually during the postseason, year 2002-2003.

What league are you in?
What team are you managing?
Thanks
