View Full Version : Most wins ever in BBMO?
JamesBaker

I've won 138, but that didn't count because it was with the Yankees. I just won 127 with Texas, so that doesn't count either.
I'm wondering what's the record for wins in a season on BBMO?
I'll scout around tonight and check out "league records posts".
Is 162-0 possible??? I doubt it, but I hear if you give 7 monkeys 7 typewriters they can do some damm fine writing.

I won 97 games one year with Anaheim.
Made the playoffs, too.
Not bad for the king of mediocrity.

The first league I ever joined was phreaque's. I was new to mogul and had no clue on how to play -- so of course I took Tampa. I took over the team in midseason 2009. My first year was bad, 58 wins bad. It was either the next year or the year after I was a game away from taking Tampa to the World Series. Phreaque's Indians pitched Maddux in Game 7 and went on to the Series. I had 105 wins that year and won more AL East Titles than the Yankees did during my stint.
I have no idea how I did it. Tony Womack played SS, Chris Stynes at 2B, Frank Thomas at 1B, Johnny Damon in CF, Dewayne Wise in LF... I can't remember the rest. The one thing I did was sign free agents that played on playoff teams -- no matter who they were. That's probably wise when you are learning this game.

That's probably good advice. I can't believe you haven't gotten more responses to this thread; what with the way guys around here like to brag and all.

I've just never done all that good either, cavemanx. :D
I think my best was when I won 100 games as LA :(

I hit 127 a few times with the Yankees over in the IL's early years, but 138 is such a high number that most who read it don't bother to post.

I think I have seen 114 with KC in MMLB. I know it was over 100.

If you are experienced it's really unfair to play as the Yankees. I built the perfect team to get those 138 wins. Every starting pitcher had 20 wins and all position players had A+ in range and fielding.

I won 132 games with CHW and my salary was under 100.
There were only 5 humans in the league and trading with computer teams was allowed. So doesn't really count.
The league folded after four seasons. I won all four series....

In Mogulers (http://www-2.sportsmogul.com/bb/leagues.pl?viewleague=926) the White Sox won 124. I don't remember who the owner was but it was in our 4th year that he did it. Also this was one of the most competitive leagues I was ever in and others could vouch for it.

It was JordsJays, and that was by far the most competitive I've ever been in as well.

Oh yea. I guess Jords has been gone for too long (Not counting his brief return and exit) that I almost forgot about him. I haven't heard from him in a while.

In 2003 and 2004 of the Ernie Harwell league im in right now I won 109 and 108 games respectively with the Cincinnati Reds. But The NY Yankees won something like like 120 and the Tigers won 111 in 2004. I agree, if you get a good owner running the yankees, they can dominate a league forever.

I won 123 with Toronto in All star mogul league twice (non-consecutive seasons) but was later passed by LA when he won 128.
I still maintain that he cheated. :D

I won 124 with my Minneosta team in the First run of SharkX. It was a great team but it took me three years to get back to the WS with basically the same team. Also in a 12 year run I never missed the Playoffs and was a Wild Card only once (**** Chicago had a Year in the sun in 2010) on the way to winning 4 WS titles.

In the Sports Mogul League (SML) I took the San Francisco franchise to 128 wins and won the World Series got 170 mogul points that season but still in third behind Deke and 3rdWiseman. Narrowed the gap quite a bit

The most I have seen in an equalized league was 117 wins. Abrown did it with St Louis in the Fedral League. Donyoungdropsit also did it with Baltimore.

I once hit 135 with the Mets in the No Strike Clause league. Of course, there were only 6 other humans and trading with computer clubs was allowed.

In the Federal League (equalized, almost always full) I've won over 100 games the last 3 seasons and 5 out of the last 6 including 110 last year with Cincinnati, but I've only won the division once thanks to St. Louis' dominance.

Real Baseball League
My best seasons were 130 and 129 games as the Yankees. The 130 was in 2031 with trading with computerized teams. The 129 was in 2012 with all humans. This is non equalized league and I have one of the highest revenues of any team. [Note: in 2036 I had a 22 game winning streak which is the highest that I'm aware of. My record is currently 68-17, a pace of about 130 wins.]
Equalized Mogulers League
My best record in this league is 117 wins. The Chicago White Sox have 120 wins in one of their seasons. The Atlanta Braves had 128 wins in 2008. I am pretty sure that this is the best ever in this league.
Consistency - Can you win year after year?
Rather than winning a lot of games in a single year, I think the ability to win consistently year after year is the best measure of success. My record in Equalized Mogulers is 130 Mogul points. This means that I average about 103 wins per year, year in and year out. I have won my division 12 time in 14 years. I have won the World Series 3 times. My Mogul Point average is 130.8. Next highest is Chicago with 127.5 followed by Atlanta with 121.9.
This is a record that I am very proud of and is proof that I am playing better than just about anyone else in the league. And this league has been consistently played by humans, almost never any computer controlled teams. And its owners are "la creme de la creme" - the cream of the crop.
Kahn
Kahn did a marvelous job with Anaheim in the one of the old leagues.
so many comments to make.. I agree with Georgefc3, he has done an amazing job with Arizona in EM even if his highest win total is *only* 117 wins... but after looking a few things up, these are the highest I have seen in some leagues:
Mogulers (Unequalized)
Chicago Canucks (Jordsjays) won 124 and 123
Balitmore Orioles (Winks) won 123
New York Mets (DGM) won 121
Houston Astros (Sunzfan) won 115
and because I want to include myself,
Detroit Almost Canadians (Tdks) won 114 (and the WS)
Equalized Mogulers (Equalized)
Atlanta Braves (garytunsall) 128 wins
Chicago White Sox (mcpickl) 120 wins
St. Louis Cardinals (sooboohoo) 119 wins
Arizona Copperheads (georgefc3) 117 wins
Anaheim Galunga Fish (siccjay) 115 wins
Montreal Expos (Tdks) 114 wins
Seattle Spongebob (DaveHorn) 112 wins (had to include him since he won 2 WS unlike a couple others ahead of him in wins on the list)
Also, in a league I was in with Winks and a few others (no more than 10 Human Gm's at any point), that allowed computer trading, i won 127 with Montreal, but it was unequalized, so it was still an accomplishment in my books... anyways, there are my two cents.. and JamesBaker, you might just beat that 127 next year in Texas as my Oakland continues to get weaker;)
I won 132 games as Anaheim in 2002 & Beyond. It was an unequalized league with no computer trading. We had at least 26 owners at all times and were full most of the time. Also, it was the first league to use the 2002 rosters so no one knew who the "sleepers" or "guaranteed stars" (Alex Escobar, etc) were. The Anaheim Dynasty averaged 110 wins a season through 2020. The 132 win season ended in a fluke game 7 loss in the WS, breaking up what would have been 6 straight WS championships.

Modesty?
XNYLIVED is a very good player. I checked his record and indeed his best is 113 wins. However he has topped 100 wins many many times and his overall record is #2 in the league.
And his best seasons were at the start of the league, when there more humans playing.
He is an excellent trader. Are you being modest, XNYLIVED??

I'm curious as to what you guys think about my Chicago Black Sox franchise in Western Mogul League (30/day, unequalized). Here is the link to their history:
Chicago Black Sox team history (http://www-1.sportsmogul.com/bb/bg.pl?page=History)
Here's a brief summary:
6 World Championships-- 2005-2007, 2011, 2017, 2018
Playoffs from 2004 onward. Highest win total-- 121-41, 161 Mogul Points.
Averages up to 2018 season:
Attendance: 3,237,280
Revenue: 713
Profit: 42
W-L: 106-56
Mogul Pts: 136.4 (1st Place)
We're going to finish the playoffs of the 2019 season before we reset. Currently my team is playing in the AL Championship Series. We'll see how that goes! I don't know too much about other people's franchises in other leagues, so let me know how my Black Sox stack up against your past powerhouses...

i had to mention this...
in the mogul challenge future league
schaefling plays as the yankees, a team with tons of stars.
now if you put one of the best GMs in all of BBMO in charge of a team that has already won 4 straight world series in 5 straight playoff appearances, youll get dominance, as demonstrated here:
Year Attendance Revenue Profit W-L Finish Mogul Points
2021 5,008,427 1,165 38 125-37 AL Champion 159
2022 3,495,840 746 33 134-28 World Champion 175
2023 3,449,080 733 7 131-31 World Champion 172
2024 3,298,253 729 67 124-38 World Champion 165

not on purpose :D yeah my winningest seasons came when there were a steady stream of 28+ GMs, usually all 30. Plus if I don't act modest about trading no other GMs will want to deal with me, you already do not like to and now khan is getting suspicious. ;)
We left "getting suspicious" about a mile back (the Lidle deal or maybe how you got Spivey before that or.....) :)
personally, I loved the Lidle deal

Well, I've just completed the regular season portion of what I believe is my best ever season.
101-61...playoffs should start today
congrats E-Toast... it's about time you got your act together :D ... of course, it had to be in a league in which I had a season where I won only 56, which I believe is the worst I have done in BBMO....

I have now won 97 games with two teams:
Anaheim - Mogulers
Los Angeles - WLB
LA is a mid size market in WLB. Some wierd stuff going on in that league, friends.

My record for a non online game is now 139-23 in the regular season. I was 11-1 in the playoffs for a total record of 150-24. That's a winning percentage of .862.
A couple of points about this. I did no trading with the computer. I did have a very large budget, 852 points of payroll, total revenue of 1400 points.
How did I do this? Well to start with, I started a new game in the CD-ROM version as the St. Louis Cardinals. I went into Commisioner mode and gave the team enough money to build a huge stadium. I promptly moved the team to Washington and built a 75,000 seat stadium. The extra money was returned to the kitty.
You are probably thinking, "With that kind of money it should be easy to get to 139!" Not so! 130 yes, 139 no.
I quickly went on a buying spree getting Pedro Martinez, Freddy Garcia, Vladimir Guerrero and so on.
I won 131 games quickly. Then numbers in the 120s and 130 but no higher.
Interestingly, I had to drop my prices to keep the stadium full after a few years.
Finally in 2010 I assembled a team that did not seem to be a particularly special team. I had dumped a lot of the aging stars and replaced them with good but not spectacular players. They all were excellent defensively however.
This was the team that went all the way to 139:
Jerry Manning - LF (.296, 13 homers)
Dave Kryznal - CF (.305, 13 homers)
Marcus Giles - 2B (.283, 26 homers)
Albert Pujols - 3B (.309, 39 homers)
Vlad Guererro - RF (.301, 40 homers)
Carolos Pena - 1B (.297, 33 homers)
John Buck - C (.305, 9 homers)
Tomas Ivarra - SS (.301, 2 homers)
Each of these players had A+ ranges, except for SS Ivarra who was just an A. Plus my stadium was very big to make room for these guys.
The pitchers:
Bud Smith - 22-1, 1.61 (one of the original Cards 26 points)
Matt Morris - 23-1, 1.63 (at 120 "ouch" points)
Bryant Lamison - 17-0, 2.02 (FA pick, from Cincinatti, 20 points)
Brian Anderson - 23-4, 2.72 (FA pick also, 24 points)
CC Sabathia 10-2, 3.06 (25 points)
Ugeth Urbina 5-3, 1.79, 52S, 3 BS (21 points)
Mike Crudale 14-3, 4.51, 1S 13 BS (13 points)
Kevin Joseph 11-3, 3.35, 2S, 6 (10 points)
Interestingly there were only 4 expensive players on this team. Morris, grossly overpriced at 120 points. Guerrero had just had a pay cut to 74 points, Carlos Pena was also at 74 points. Finally Pujols was the most expensive hitter at 80.
Comments?

Just for fun I decided to play on Fan level and give myself unlimited money, and after a few yours I had guys like Ichiro in AAA my team was so good, and we went 158-4! I don't do that all the time, just for kicks.
