View Full Version : Question on Overall Scoring

On the My Account screen there is a section called Scoring. It appears that in this section each player will receive an overall Baseball Mogul score or his cumulative rating for participation in one or more leagues.

I would like to know - Is this Scoring section going to be reset once BBMO goes active? When I first started playing I quit three leagues in the first week as I tried to discover just how I wanted to play. One team was at regular sim speed which was too slow for me and the other two looked like they had been totally trashed by their previous owners. After that I have stayed with the same three leagues for about a month and a half which brings me up to the current date. I would hate to be penalized for my learning experiences with BBMO as a beta tester.

I am also contemplating leaving some of my fastsim teams at some point in the future if new players dont join these leagues. Several players in these leagues have indicated they are going to quit when BBMO goes active (many quitting to join other leagues) and without new blood I think these leagues will eventually die out. The point is I prefer not to be penalized for quitting these leagues in the next few weeks should most of the human players quit these leagues.

I would like to suggest that the quit rating be reset after BBMO goes active and that anyone quitting a league by say the end of October not be penalized for doing so. Since we will not know until October 29th just which players have quit certain leagues this would give players a few days to adjust to the official start-up of BBMO.

In the alternative I suggest the quit rating be reset as of October 22nd and I and other players like me can then immediately quit the leagues we know are dying out without being penalized.

The bottom line though is that players need to know just when and in what manner the Scoring section is to be activated.

Sorry for the long post but it's a difficult matter to explain clearly.

Schaefling -

Thanks for your comments.

We will try to solve this in the best way possible.

I'm pretty sure that we will reset people's quit scores at launch, or possibly a bit later (since we have plenty of things on our mind at the moment... :) )

James,

A side note on the whole wuit rating, if you leave ateam after, say 10 Sim season, I really do not think that you should be penalized, provided the team is left in the black.

Great idea nevets, I just left a Boston team that went to the playoffs 12 straight years and won 9 pennants because there wasnt enough competition. Whoever inherited the team is a lucky person. I took over a team 900 pts in debt... the player (unless it was all done by computer trading) that left this team in such a mess should be penalized. So I agree in nevets in saying that you should not be penalized if you leave a team in good financial standing.

that option had been on since the first day this game had started beta, and now they are still on working the rating, interesting....

Thanks for the quick response, James.

The suggestion about not being penalized for leaving a team in the black after ten years of play is interesting but I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement for Sports Mogul.

From reading the posts it looks like things are in a high state of flux at BBMO right now. I suspect it's going to be that way until the end of the month. That's why I will once again suggest waiting until November 1 to reset the Quit Rating.

As an aside I like the changes I have seen implemented by Sports Mogul today. The red light next to my public leagues is a nice touch and informative as well. I hope more such changes are forthcoming!

Oh, and the pitching rotation option is great! Thanks.

Maybe you should just keep track of private leagues quit.

I am just posting this to bring this topic to the top of the list again as there are some people still inquiring about the quit rating.

To repeat what's been said James Grove of Sports Mogul has indicated that the quit rating will probably be reset on October 22nd and may be even a few days after this.

The History should note each change of GM. If the proposed GMs got to see the franchise before they took it on, their name should be attached to their period of management. At least everyone would know who trashed a team.

I like exep's idea about showing who managed the teams in history. It would be nice to have this info if possible. If it's not too much trouble that is.

I agree. The manager should be listed on the history screen.
Make room for it by removing the profit column.

I agree. Not only did I propose that once before, I suggested that the history file for the seasons a person owned a team should be available through the user's profile, so that people could see if they trashed teams, were simply unable to help them, or quit after numerous winning seasons. I like the idea of being able to see an owner's complete record.

That creates a problem though varjak... I took over a team 900 points in debt and it took me like 5 years to get out. That meant that I had to bite the bullet for 5 years in a row. I would assume that most people wouldnt have taken that challenge if we kept track of each mogul's total record. I mean I was in debt, couldnt sign anyone and didnt have anyone good to trade away. There is no fun in losing, but someone needs to bring these teams out of debt... I guess maybe we could keepp mogul total records if we make the highest debt possible something like 100 points. That way ANYONE could fix that team in a hurry and not cause too much of a problem. But this would lead to more teams making signings and trades that they couldnt afford and only incurring a debt of whatever the max is. Can anyone think of a better idea so that we can have some way of keeping track of total records? I do agree though that we should be able to see the managers on each history screen.
