If you lead the league in team pitching your AA pitchers won't be anything special. If you lead the league in team homers your new prospects won't hit for much power.
I never can get a solid prospect. I think this is due to two things - 1) I win and 2) my AAA is loaded with my 3rd and 4th string players. I think 2 is more important than 1.
Is loading my AAA with backups hurting my prospect production?

Definitely - mogul staff have said several times on here that one of the things which affects your new rookies is how many guys you have in AAA already.
I go through my farm system every October and release all the guys who I don't think have futures, to make room for new rookies.
I don't think it matters if you have more than 5 or 6 guys, but still... if you have 10 hitters and 10 pitchers in AAA, I don't think you'll get more than 1 of each, probably.

That explains a lot. I recently had my farm up to 200 points and received 0 quality prospects. My AAA is always full because I like to keep cheap players away from the competition and more importantly I like to have insurance policies.
Guess I'd have to change my strategy to receive good prospects.

It shouldn't affect quality, from what I understand - just quantity.
