This seems to be pretty egregiously bad scoring. Can we get this fixed?

from the Basebasll enthusiasts playoffs

here's the pitcher's line

NEW YORK ip h bb hr r er k pit ERA
Leiter 5.0 7 1 1 4 1 7 83 3.85

And here's the runs:

TOP OF THE FIRST
Rafael Furcal singled up the middle.
Carlos Beltran struck out.
Rafael Furcal stole second.
Al Leiter threw a wild pitch.
Chipper Jones flied out to left.
Rafael Furcal tagged up and reached home, scoring a run.
Vladimir Guerrero popped up to the catcher.

well, I TELL ya, WP's are not errors, but whatever....

TOP OF THE THIRD
Rafael Furcal struck out.
Carlos Beltran singled down the third base line.
Chipper Jones grounded to short.
Al Leiter threw a wild pitch.
Vladimir Guerrero homered over the center field fence for two RBIs.
Frank Thomas flied out to left.
2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error, and 0 left on base.

Okay, EXPLAIN this! The Wild Pitch, oh yeah, ERROR, didn't have ANY impact on whether the player scored. This is just WRONG!

TOP OF THE FIFTH
Rafael Furcal singled in the right field gap.
Carlos Beltran singled to center, advancing the runner to third.
Chipper Jones singled down the first base line, scoring a run.
Vladimir Guerrero lined out to short.
Frank Thomas struck out.
Edgardo Alfonzo struck out.
1 run, 3 hits, 0 errors, and 2 left on base.

OKAY - THIS is an earned run.

Clay - Are you listening? Could you please fix this? Or at least change the WP to PB which are, in fact errors. Of course, that wouldn't change the insanity of the third inning where the HR isn't an earned run!?!?!

I think that this has been mentioned before. Muchomaas is right as wild pitches are the responsibility of the pitcher and do not count as errors. Any runs scoring on account of wild pitches do count as earned runs against the pitcher.

This is something that should probably be fixed at some point in order to get the ERAs to be more accurate.

Frequently, the wrong pitcher is given the win and loss. This was mentioned along time ago, but must be way down the list of things to fix.

In the middle of the eighth, Atlanta leads 7 to 5.

BOTTOM OF THE EIGHTH
Damian Jackson came in to play First Baseman.
Sid Nalerio came in to play Shortstop.
Trenidad Hubbard came in to play Left Fielder.
Blaine Azimzadeh struck out.
Jimmy Rollins singled to left.
Ben Petrick popped up to short.
Bob Ray walked.
Jose Ortiz singled to center, scoring a run.
Rey Steinberg singled down the left field line, scoring a run.
Keith Foulke came in to pitch for the Raves.
The score is tied with runners on 1st and 2nd
Gary Matthews Jr. doubled over the left fielder for two RBIs.
Cliff Floyd grounded to first.
4 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, and 1 left on base.
At the end of the eighth, Tampa Bay leads 9 to 7.

Foulke was the losing pitcher, however, he came into the game with the score tied and the runners on base the responsibility of the earlier pitcher. The earlier pitcher should be given the loss, not Foulke. The earned runs were credited appropriately, however.

The 3 inning save not credited has not been fixed and I keep seeing pitchers getting a win and a save. You should look closer. These bugs have not been fixed and are important to the game.
