Am I paying the 4.95 a month just sitting in a league waiting for it to start? What a clever marketing scheme. How long does it take a league to fill up so you can actually enjoy your subscription?

It depends on what type of league you are in. If you are in a public league, I must recommend you find a private league. The public leagues often take weeks or months, if not longer, to fill.
