Currently we have a policy of only allowing you to own a team once per account. So if you are Atlanta in one league, you can't join it in others.

This was done initally to try and let everyone have a shot at the team they wanted, but I have seen some complaints with it in regards to private leagues. I meant to disable that feature for private leagues, but seem to have neber done that. I will get that pulled today, but want to know how everyone feels about it in general.

So vote!

Ok, it's fixed. While I was in the code I saw this on the league search page... "You can not play the same team in multiple public leagues." Looks like I wrote the exception in the rules, but never put it in the actual code. Duh. :-)

This should solve most of the issues I have heard, and I'll look at the poll after a bit to see what to do about the rest of it.

I would prefer that players be allowed to take any team they want in any league. Unfortunately I suspect you may be right in limiting players to managing each team just once in public leagues in order to prevent some players from abusing the process. I must, therefore, reluctantly admit to support of the position taken by Sports Mogul.

I don't think the same restriction should apply in private leagues where one must be invited in order to join. As usual the staff at Sports Mogul listens to all complaints and promptly responds even when they dont agree with the one complaining. In this case though I am pleased to offer my thanks for your prompt decision to disable the management limitation feature for private leagues. Thank you for rectifying this matter.

Special Note: I really think if you decide to continue to limit team management in public leagues that you make some sort of announcement explaining the limitation. Perhaps the limitation should appear as a footnote on each player's personal page.

I mention this because it appears that there are other players out there who have no idea of this restriction. Furthermore, for new players joining, the simplest and most effective way for them to know of this restriction is to post it prominently on everyone's personal page.

That's a confusing poll.... the question is "Should allow owning the same team in multiple leagues?" but the No response is the Yes (I want to be able to control the same team), and the Yes response is the no response (No it should not be allowed). Kinda reminds me of the Quebec referendum question a few years back :)

Timmy, I don't think I have read a funnier comment then your Quebec reference. I'm originally from there and all to familiar with francophones' shenanigans regarding their heritage.
Anyway getting back to baseball that is the most confusing poll we have seen. My opinion without voting is we should be allowed to be any team as often as we like in private leagues. Can see the logic for limit in public leagues, so good move Ian Smith.

I think the "No" response is missing a "Not":D

And I agree with everyone so far. Keep the restriction in the "Public" leagues, ban it in the "Private" leagues.

I suspect that since you need 30 players to make a league, that the "Private" leagues will be actively looking for members, so no one will be gyped out of playing their favorite team, at least once.

Ok, that was embarrassing. The poll question is now grammatically correct at least. :-)

My personal view is that you should only be allowed to own each team once in the PUBLIC leagues, but in Private leagues, its up to the commish.

There is the neccessity to limit the 'power gamers' by restricting the use of teams in public games. It isn't really neccessary in provate leagues as they have humans to do the dirty work of keeping the game honest.

I concur... if I want to take the cubs... and gods knows why I would want to take them with their attendance issues (sigh)... and I do... what is the issue having them more then once in private leagues... I see the point when it comes to large markets, but who cares if someone has a martyr complex and wants a full house of small market teams.... hmmmmm
