In one of the leagues I participate in (FS 75, which has probably about 10 owners max) we just hit the end of a World Series. Upon going in to check out free agents to see what was available, I was surprised to see EVERY free agent had a bid placed on him by some club, including those that are computer-operated.
This is a dynamic shift from past game play, and one I'm not terribly happy with - especially when Troy Glaus can hit .283, then land a 1-year deal for 141 points! What's up with this?
Though I understand the desire to make some of the lesser played public leagues more competitive in some respects, this seems to be going a little too far. With NY (NL) it seems as if I can't compete with computer-operated clubs that want to drive spending out of reach. And if I can't be competitive with NY (NL), what hope could there possibly be for someone who wants to come in owning Florida or Minnesota?
