Well. It's all about networking. It helps if you've been playing BBMO for a while and know quite a few GMs. The only thing I can say is advertise in the "new leagues forum" and talk to other GMs that have open slots. Do not advertise in any forum though. IF you want to advertise in a league forum that you belong to, ask the commisioner for permission. Otherwise, try sending PMs or if you have AIM, talk to other GMs that way.
Hate to say it, but right now is not a good time to start a new league because there aren't enough GMs to fill up the leagues that are out there. Plus, people are joining any available opening in a custom league and they do not want to join a regular league. The problem with custom leagues is that already 2 custom leagues are waiting to have their databases uploaded to the system and there is 2 more custom leagues that both have about 25 GMs so they would be very close to sending in the database. Basically, what I'm trying to say with this is that there is a bunch of GMs already committed to the custom leagues so that they wouldn't be available for a new standard league.
Don't give up hope and Good Luck.

Atleast you have 1. I have been trying to get gm's for over a month and not even 1 has joined. I've sent out mailers, advertised, and asked around. So as the guy said its just a bad time to try to get GM's.

I click members and invite the top posters first then work my way down. Create an invite letter and copy/paste your way to a 30 member league.

Yeah but of course having a well known name around BBMO James doesn't hurt you one bit. My best suggestion to getting new GM's for a league is to get into a few of the most active leagues around. Look for full leagues and league that have a lot of posting in their forums. Ask to be put on a waiting list if neccessary. Once you know the top GM's, they know people who know people and so on. Also you have to have a unique idea anymore to draw attention. WLB (the league I commish) was the first customized database using cities throughout the world. It will be going into its 9th season and we still have a waiting list 7 GM's long. Do something that no one else has done.
btw, customized databases are over, so you don't have to compete with that anymore.

Couple questions for you.
How did you customize a database? Did you have to code it yourself, or was there somehow a feature on BBMO that allowed you to customize?
Also, why are they "over"? Too much work for BBMO staff or something?
Thanks.

Custom databases were built by the commish using the CD version of BBM 2004. You could create different cities, players and adjust other aspects of the game. Then you would send the database to Sportsmogul and they would test it, re-code it and then upload it to the online league that you created.
It was a lot of work for both sides.

Ah, yeah, it sounded too cool to be easy for anyone. It could be really tight I'm sure, but it doesn't sound like BBMO really has many manhours being put into it right now so I can understand why that was cut out. Thanks for the info anyhow.
