When trading for a guy who's in his contract year, it's possible for the other owner to sign the guy to a long contract at terms you might not want before pulling the trigger.
I wonder if there's a way to prevent this, like perhaps not allowing you to extend a guys contract if you have trades offered to others/trades offered to you that are not yet rejected.
Did any of that make sense?

Here's what happened to Godard, he is the GM of Minnesota in the Mogul Enthusiasts League. Minnesota has a tiny budget as we all know, and I guess he wanted to make a playoff run or something. So he traded for a young ace pitcher on the last year of his contract earning 1 pt. However before the other party accepted the trade he signed him to a 7 year 70 pt deal, one that Minnesota can't possibly afford. I edited the contract back to one pt on its last year, since Minnesota can't possibly afford the renegotiated contract.

1) Thanks for fixing that, Particleman
2) I really appreciate the condescending tone about my playoff run ;)
3) Is there anything that can be written into the code to prevent this sort of childish shenanigan in the future?

Well Godard, June is right around the corner and we all know what happens to Minesota in June :)
Must be the warm weather or something....

I'll take this one up with Clay and Ian and see if we can find a solution.
Thanks for pointing this out.

Yeah, I have my best team yet, and am in a terrible division, and I didn't even have my usual fast start. Good lord, where are the Twin Cities gonna end up this year?
(A: in 4th place and on free agency)
Well, there's one person not responding to this thread... He's the one who ruined the trade by signing the extension
(edited to avoid a flame war)
