Luis Castillo just grounded out, how did he get on second and steal third when Do came in to pitch? Being the last game of the season, it was my favorite game to start my top prospect and see him go 7 shutout innings, but this magic appearance on the basepaths is a flat out bug.

A search for the word "choice" in a season's worth of recap files (BB2K2 demo 4.18) did not find any occurances. Could Luis Castillo have grounded into a fielder's choice? Did the box score for that game credit the run to Luis Castillo instead of Scott Rolen or Homer Bush?

I think the key is that the groundout was a fielders choice, where Homer Bush gets the force out at 3rd base, and Castillo makes it to 1st safely.

These box scores are really confusing. If it says grounded to first, you don't know whether they advance the runners or ground into a fielder's choice. This together with that sacrifice bunt to the catcher case means that we should have much clearer box scores. Even you, James were not sure about which bases were occupied after the wild pitch.

Yes, the boxscores can be confusing.

I imagine it comes from the fact that Baseball Mogul was not intended to be a pitch-by-pitch management simulation. When first created, all that really mattered was the outcome of the game, not what happened to get you there.

We have beefing up the play-by-play on our "Nice to have" list. But it's currently behind several other things that are more critical to the gameplay.

Cheers,
James
