Is there any compensation for losing free agents or signing free agents? If not, I would think that there should really be one. Thats a small markets only weapon to battle the large market teams. As a small market owner you can't really expect to be in the top tier of farm expenses.

I agree. Maybe BM should give a 'rookie' for every player lost be a team that has X-ratings or signs for X-points. They could be added durring the offseason, or could wait till the next year to be added. But that would help be out as a mid-market tem.

The team signing the player should lose a draft pick as well. what is it in real life. If a team signs an "A" tier player they lose a first round pick to the team losing the player and the team losing the player will get a pick in between 1st and second rounds?

Nothing needs to be done about about losing free agents for small market teams. Small market teams need to trade their star players for good prospects, then trade those good prospects in a few years for more good prospects. Now if you don't like to trade, it will be hard to win consistantly with a small market team.

I dont know about your league but in my leauge no one wants to trade for high priced players and no one wants to trade away good prospects. I am always hearing about trying to make this game as realistic as possible and trying to pattern itself after the Major League. It's hard enough to run a small market team especially without it's only real benefit.

Why would you ever allow a player to go free agent then?
I *never* allow a good player to disappear like that now. If their salary demands are going to be beyond acceptable come next season, I always trade them before the trading deadline for whatever I'm short of.
Why let them leave for nothing? Especially in a small market where you need to have players come up out of AAA and develop.

In my leagues the large market owners run their teams like small market teams and wont trade away good prospects for good veterans. I just think there should be some kind of compensation for losing free agents like there is in real life.
