My biggest question right now is...

.. hold on. My daughter wants me to put a smiley face in this letter:

:D  :o

OK. I'm back. What I meant to say was:

WHAT THE F*** WAS UP WITH PEDRO???

I don't mean throwing at Garcia. I mean the first 3+ innings. Almost no fastballs, and those he did throw were 88-90. It's like he knew he needed an adrenaline boost so he started a fight and got his fastball up to 93. It worked, the Sox didn't allow a run after the 4th.

Problem is, Pedro gave up 4 runs through 4 and that's all the Evil Empire needed.

Again, the Sox run themselves out of the first inning. Gabe Kapler has SOME speed. But I could probably outrun Manny.

And I wish I knew what was up with Nomar, too. Every SABR article I read insists that "streaks" don't exist -- that a run of hits or outs is nothing more than random variation. But Nomar's just not reading pitches right. And he's batting something like .160 since the beginning of September, including the playoffs.

Just wish I knew the story with Pedro. Hard to believe that Pedro and Varitek went into the game with a strategy of throwing them a steady diet of breaking balls. If so, they should have stopped after the hanger to Jeter...
