In the MAL custom league I just had something very strange happen during the free agent bidding process.
I bid on John Rocker the relief pitcher and he greened out. he had been asking 5 point for 4 year and I offered 10 points for four years.
This pitcher was greened out through not one but two bidding periods. I never did get him. I had my max bid set at 30 thru both of these periods and I know no one bid on him at the end of the first period where he was greened out although I don't know about the second period.
Anyway he went to Oakland who signed him on April 1st for four points per year only moments after the free agent bidding period ended.
I hope this is a glitch because if it's not a glitch then I don't know how to successfully bid anymore in free agency. I mean once a player is greened out thru a bidding period and no one else bids on him should not that player then be signed by the bidding team? Otherwise what's the point of greening out players?
This is an important subject because I think it has the potential to create problems between players. Initially it looked to me like Oakland had to know about my bid and immediately signed the player after free agency taking advantage of an apparent bug but now I'm not so sure. I have asked for an explanation from Oakland and maybe this will clear things up.
Could you guys look into this and see if this is a problem or not? Thanks.:)
