I have heard different things about developing young prospects. I'm wondering if you could let me know the truth.

I've heard they develop best in the minors, then in the everyday lineup, and last on the bench. Does this mean that if I keep a player in the minor leagues long enough their ratings will go up? Does it depend on how much I invest in the farm and scouting systems? This last part is kind of confusing b/c if you look at the help menus, the farm system only helps for the draft and scouting only helps in how you READ the players ratings.

What is correct?

There is another thread somewhere that details this but I'll give you the abreviated version. Scouting and farm spending help you on next years' prospects. The ones you have don't decline even if you spend nothing on the farm. Players in the minors can improve but generally not in dramatic fashion. Expect a half grade improvement after a year or two in the minors. In the majors they can improve too but slower (how much slower I don't know). On the bench they don't improve at all.
