Team Anaheim in SPL.

BOTTOM OF THE TENTH
Tony Nelson doubled in the left field gap.
John Olerud walked.
Ellis Burks grounded to the pitcher for a double play.
Ray King came in to pitch for the Angels.
Bret Boone was intentionally walked.
Jeremy Giambi doubled down the right field line for two RBIs.

The game was tied. The 2nd run would not have counted.

As I said, minor, but wanted to point it out.

Also, intentionally walking Brett Boone with two outs to get to Jeremy Giambi? Who's the coach on this team!

They really should not be intentionally walking folks with 2 outs - except the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher.

I know, another minor thing.

Why wouldn't you walk Boone? The game is tied...all they need is one out and the other runners do not matter.

If you have any empty bases, why not walk as many people as you need to, to get to your weakest hitter?

I remember a Mets game in the summer when they had a runner on third and two outs, and they walked 2 guys in a row to get to a weak hitter.

I think his point was that Boone was a weaker hitter than Giambi, so why would you want to walk him? Especially since the game doesn't take L/R matchups into account.
