It has just been brought to my attention by one of our NPL owners that Andruw Jones was signed for 10 pts in December. He is not a flop in our league, in fact is probably one of the top 5-10 players in it. He is 33 yrs old and has hit 41 HR's in each of the last two seasons. This definatly doesn't sound correct to me.

Happened in Mogul enthusiasts' too. Andy Shively my closer from last season was asking for 30+ and he signed with a computer controlled team for 9 pts a year in the 1st or second sim of the offseason.

I got Pedro Astacio inked to a 5 year deal at 1 pt/year, and it was mid-November when he signed. I don't remember what Astacio's demands were, but he had ratings of B or better in all four pitching categories.
I wondered if Astacio was a KC native looking for a chance to go home :)

Here's the solution,if you want the player make sure you bid for them and have a max bid. You might be luckey like me and end up getting a Richie Sexson for 23 points/yr.

That kind of isn't the point datrain. There is no way a person who was asking for 75 pts per year at the end of the season should sign for 10 pts a yer a month later. I don't care that I didn't get him, but like the AZ owner in NPL said, there would have been a whole lot of teams after him if they knew he would sign for that cheap. Also I don't think anyone would even be upset if he signed right before the season for that much, but it happened shortly after the free agency period started. I think this is a bug, or something misscoded, but I am not sure.

Hi, Guys -
We're trying to figure out the FA bugs.
Can you tell me -- when a player signs at a steep discount early in the FA bidding, do they always go to computer-managed teams? Or do they go to human-managed teams too?
Thanks,
James Grove

I have seen players go to computer owned teams and also to computer managed teams (owner had not logged in in a few days). Other players reported players going to human teams too but I have not seen it firsthand.
The discount is always pretty steep, in the 50-80 % range. Also it seems to occur quite early in the bidding process, the 2 players in the Mogul Enthusiasts were signed in the first one or two sims.

As I said above, I signed Richie Sexsin to a 23 pt contract, which was about half of his asking price. Hope this helps

The computer signed Ben Grieve to a 1 pt, 6 year contract when he was asking for around 80 points.

Yeah, Vladamiro Guerrero signed a 7 year, 29 points a year contract. His asking price was 110 points! He signed the first day of free agency. I had just won the World Series with Florida, and I wanted to try to sign him to improve my team for a repeat. I'm expecting profits to go up after winning the World Series, and I was thinking I could pay him 50-60 points. I was waiting for his asking price to go down. That is why I did not make a bid. I was shocked to see him sign that contract after hitting .350, with 40+ homers, and he is only 28. WOW!

[B] I have posted detailed explanations of what is happening over in the BUGS forum.
http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=4749
Quick summary from my experience in NABL:
* Problem occurs in the 1st and/or 2nd free agency period after the World Series
* Problem occurs with non-pitchers (though hamricb says otherwise)
* Problem occurs with players who have a max bid higher than the High Bid
* Problem definitely happens with human teams (This league has 29 humans).
