Hello BBMO players!
We are pleased to announce the unveiling of the new "Equalize Cities" option in Baseball Mogul Online.
This new feature will allow leagues to have a whole new dynamic, where no team will have inherent advantages due to larger a larger stadium or better fan base.
The Equalize Cities option can be turned on by the league Commissioner from the "Edit Team Cash" page. Please read the help file before doing so, however, since it will change the league finances dramatically when it is activated.
Please let us know what you think of this new feature!
Thank you for playing Baseball Mogul Online.
Regards,
James Grove

Here is the description of the Equalize Cities option, taken from the BBMO help file:
-------------------------
Equalize Cities
The Commissioner may also choose to "Equalize Cities". As long as this box is checked, all teams are treated equally in terms of: city population; city income; fan base; stadium quality; and stadium capacity. Every team is treated as having the same basic financial resources, as follows:
City Center Population: 1,000,000
City Region Population: 3,500,000
City Population Growth: 35,000 per year
City Median Income: $22,500
City Fan Base: Normal
Stadium Quality: Normal
Stadium Capacity: 50,000 seats
Geographical and stadium settings that only affect the baseball simulation (e.g. city altitude or foul ground size) are not affected by "Equalize Cities".
"Equalize Cities" will put high-payroll teams in the tough position of shedding expensive players in order to fit within their new lower budget. Therefore, it is imperative that you only enable "Equzlize Cities" with the consent and acknowledgement of your league's owners.
For the purpose of awarding Mogul Points, all teams are treated as "Tier 3" when "Equalize Cities" is turned on.
Note that "Equalize Cities" will not equalize short-term loyalty effects for each team. In other words, good performance by a team will cause that team's attendance and revenue to rise above the league average.

This is a great start, but teams are still not equal. The NL central has 6 teams and the AL west has 4 teams. OBM needs to (have the option to) contract, probably to 24 teams, (6 - 4 team divisions).
Could one of the National League teams be moved into AL west? It would even things up. Milwaukee began as an AL team (the Pilots) and they could return.

I suggested that a long time ago, but was told that would leave an odd number of teams in each league. In real life, that creates scheduling problems, but in a simulation there should be no real difficulty. It's not like simulated players are affected by simulated travel. But, you're absolutely right, 6 - 5 team divisions would even things up. I like 6 - 4 team divisions because the 162 game schedule works out so nicely: 22 games within the division and 12 games with 2 other divisions.
