I just had a thought and I don't know if it's something we GMs should do or that maybe Clay and James might be interested in...
What if we used BBMO to simulate the different ideas that people have for fixing Major League Baseball?
For instance, one league could be set up with a salary cap in place, another with revenue sharing, etc, etc. It might be best to run these simulations with only computer GMs so that a league with some great human GMs doesn't interfere with the results of the experiment. After a sufficient number of seasons have completed the success of each strategy could be evaluated. The metrics that would determine success would need to be determined, but they might include things like profitability of the teams/league, number of teams that win division titles and World Series (with the thought being that more of each leads to a more successful league), etc.
I thought this might be an interesting idea for Clay/James because they could use it to promote the BBM game. Maybe it's just me, but I can see an article on espn.com and on Sportscenter talking about how simulations of the diferent theories actually played out. This game is probably better suited to this sort of a test than most others because of the strength of the financial engine.
Sorry for the long post, but what does everyone think?
