When accessing the free agents screens in MLB EQUALIZED, the screen text is all messed up. I can't really describe the exact problem except to say that it appears as if some of the coding bleeds through on each player's "line" in the information table.

Can someone look into this?

Let me know if it's still not displaying right.

WHATZzz UP WITH THIS!!!!! In Beta 107 there are around 30 new rookie free agents. The weird thing about it is that they are all over 30 and mostly in their late 30s. It is a really weird bug. When have you ever heard of a 35 year old rookie???? It does happen in the major leagues, but only a couple of times each year (not 30), and they don't figure into the team much. But my scouting reports are telling me that a 34 year old rookie is a future hall of famer. And a high percentage of those old-should-be-retired players have ratings of Bs and above. ?????????????????

I would guess that these are guys who have spent their entire career in a team's minor leagues. When their contract was up they were released to free agency. But because they never played in the Show they are still considered to be rookies.

Could that be the case?

NO, NO, NO!! They misteriously appeared in the free agent screen this morning. What do you mean they were released because they never reached the big show. They are good enough to play in any team. We are talking about 30+ rookies in their 30s. What, did the teams come up with a conspiracy to one day release 30+ rookies in their 30s??? I don't think so(j/k). They have ratings of Bs and above. Its only the 2004 season, so I don't think that those rookies would be that old. Help!! (Beta 107)

I don't think this is anything irregular. There are plenty of journeymen that are in their 30's and have never played long enough in the majors to not be considered a rookie...especially in some of the Beta leagues with more computer controlled teams.

I'm a little bit surprised if the players are any good...

If the FA list is very short, then new players come up from the deep minors (AA, A) to offer their services. This can happen if lots of teams re-sign a lot of players, so not many people make it to free agency.

But usually the rookie FAs aren't very good...

Can you try signing a few of the good ones?

Ok, the free agency period had ended the day before. At the first sim of the regular season, all of the sudden the FA page became loaded with free agents. They are all new to the league and are in their 30s. The weird thing about it is that there are around thirty rookie free agents. And all of those thirty free agents are in the age range of 30-41. I understand that it is not weird for there to be rookie free agents, but I find rather disturbing that there is around thirty of them; all very old and very good. Where did they come from? I don't want to sign any of them because I have no place for them in the majors, and I'm satisfied with the team that I have up in the majors; also, They are old and ready to play in the bigs not in the minors. I hope you understand the severity of the bug, and the point that I'm trying to make. I would appreciate If the bug was looked into. (Beta 107)

Taka, I do not find this event to be a normal occurrence. First time that it has happen in any league that I have participated in.

I did not mean to say that all are in there 30s. I meant to say that a majority of them are in their 30s. It’s just that the ones in their 20s are not very good. In particular the pitchers that are in their 30s and are rookies have good ratings. The hitters are mediocre.

Ok, its April 1 in the league, and there are about 200 free agents unsigned because they are asking upwards of 170 pts. per year for a top star, to 40-60 pts. for an average guy to 20-40 pt.s for bench players. THere is no way even the Yankees can afford these prices? Maybe the free agent bug was fixed too much?

Hi, Punknet -

Since the free agent bidding is over now, I can't see just what went on before the season started.

But as the season progresses, the free agents will lower their salary demands, and the managers (human and computer) will pick up guys from the list.

I suspect that the list will be a lot shorter by June 1.

I think you should look at the league... The prices are way out of range of what anyone can afford.

I took a look at it...

The prices are a little high, but the crop of free agents is incredible! It seems like no one resigned anyone...

I don't think it is that out of whack because of the fact the free agents are so good. People like Joe Mays are in the middle of the list, asking for market value.

Maybe James can take a look...

Punknet, They probably won't bother to look into your league. The problem in one of the leagues that I'm in was ignored. They think that the problem that I posted is not important, so they don't bother to look into it. Sorry for complaining to the people who are to look into bugs, but I'm not very content on being ignored. You are probably sitting in front of your computer saying that I "whine" too much, but I just want to be told that the problem was looked into. Thank You!

I guess they took a look into your problem Punknet. I was wrong. Are they going to look into my problem? That remains to be seen.

Rati,

Sorry for the delay. I am looking in to your problem...

Rati,
You're right. There are a lot of free agent rookies that are pretty good...especially some of the older ones.

It isn't as overwhelming as I expected, so I think that once a new crop of free agents come next season it well go back to normal. I think this happened because most of the potential free agents were resigned, therefore new ones were generated.

It took me 3 days to check it out because I needed to free up a slot so I could log into your league.

I looked at this when it was posted, but didn't see anything alarming. The game calls up "older" rookies when the free agent list gets empty, so that teams always have some options, even if they aren't great options.

The guys are supposed to be weaker than the major leaguers. And I see that many of them are. It LOOKS like this league just got "lucky" and called up several good players. Remember that this list includes players such as those coming over from Japan in the middle of their career as free agents, and so there should be some quality there to pick up.

I just looked at it again, and I've added it to my list to keep an eye on this section of the code. If you see this problem again next season, or in another league, let me know and I'll see if the quality level of these guys needs tweaking.
