Well after a dialup speed download of the game I was all set to go. Before I start I must say I only played like 4 seasons but I found somethings I did not like which left a very bad taste in my mouth. First thing is the colors on the Standings screen are too **** bright it hurt my eyes at first. My second and biggest complaint is in the draft. The top like 50 mother****ing players are ALL PITCHERS of some sort. Hey Clay you ever heard of A-Rod, or Albert Pujols? There are some positional players who are ready for the bigs right after double a (not very many but jesus you have all the positional players in the draft playing like Pete Rose Jr.) Oh and one last thing just to make this rant somewhat usefull to clay I post a bug report: When you go into debt isn't the game supposed to lower your spending in expenses? At least thats how it used to be but it didn't happen when I went into debt with 2005. EDIT DOH forgot about the rookies.ini that might fix it considering clay had pitchers set at 105.

Just wondering if it worked because that is annoying with most of the pitchers on top of the draft?

the rookies file,

it is in your sportsmogul folder

program files/ sports mogul / Baseball 2005 / rookies configuration settings.

open that up and you can change the values of your pitchers batters....

and save it when you are done, oh yes, it comes with the game!

if you start the game in 1958, its the exact opposite, all the players in the draft are hitters.

program files/ Sports Mogul / Baseball 2005/ imput

open that up and you can change what the stats are for each one of those years.

I set them up to like all 95 instead of 85 and I made shortstops like 105 (lets face it shortstop is where its been at lately) and it got a LITTLE better but now I got it set at 105 for everything but shortstop and centerfield but I haven't gotten the motivation to test it yet (just not getting into this years version for some reason) I made shortstop and centerfield 115 and I might have bumped up catcher too. I will probably play with the settings and report back with my findings. I just hope that Clay mentions in the help about the rookies.ini file (I remembered it because I have played so many versions of BBM) so others don't get frustrated like I did at first.

FYI,

I believe the current patch has the batter-pitcher balance worked out pretty well for leagues within the last 10 years or so.

For earlier years, I'm still working on the talent balance.

yeah I noticed that, but it seems to depend on the year (at least with the patch before the present). One year it will be pitcher heavy the next it will be postitional player heavy. This could also be caused by the fact I have messed with the rookies.ini file so much before.
