I downloaded the game yesterday and i am 4 years in. The top 10 in the league in ERA are all unknown rookies with stats like this.

Stamina-65
Control-120(I checked in Edit Player in Commish mode)
Power-50
Movement-110

IMO, this is a huge problem. All these guys had ERA's around 1.50

Has anyone else had this problem?

Messed up pitchers with 100/50/100 stats are generated by the program when there arent enough pitchers in either free agency or on a team. I'm in the 3rd year of my franchise and Florida had to have six such pitchers generated before it could play its first game. So basically this happens when there is a shortage of pitchers in the game. Position players appear to be generated just fine.

The other thing that makes this game very difficult to play is that there isnt enough revenue generated by each team in the league. Payroll and attendance figures seem accurate as do prices for concessions. Increasing what teams get from TV and how much income people are willing to spend at a ballpark could help this. And as a result of clubs not having enough revenue, their miscellaneous expenses (eg. scouting) are often set at 1 or 0 million. (Updated data for the size and per capita of major league cities might help this?)

Things that bug me (not really bugs), teams seem to be to willing to splurge for multi year $10mil+ people right on the get go. I have no idea how computer teams go about signing free agents, but it has caused several upper market clubs to exceed even what they are capable of handiling. Maybe if the computer waited a little longer before meeting a players demand with these high priced players, or expect a higher talent level from 10mil+ players, then that would help reduce payroll inflation. This is much greater an issue with position players than pitchers.

Some teams will sign mid-level position players that they do need, but then decide at the beginning of the season to use that rookie they just drafted at 3rd base, and then the team is screwed becuase they cant get rid of the newly signed player, because his value is 0 until about a year after he is signed. Its not a huge problem, but becuase of things like this I think that teams need to go back to forcing very young players to stay in the minors unless they are already at their peak.

Kind of related, I think that teams with older players making alot of money, but for one reason or another are in AAA, should bite the bullet and release these players, if possible.

Demand for SS needs to be tweaked down, I think. A young healthy SS capable of .800 production with gold glove fielding, no speed, shouldnt be making $17 million a year, as good as he is. Maybe more like $10-12 million.

More very minor things, with the new transactions feature, transactions are being recorded in the simulator mode (which maybe should be disabled all together as it is broken anyways) and trades involving cash arent being recorded properly in the transaction screen.

Other than that, this is a very fine game. And when these things are fixed (particuarly the top two on the list) its a must buy in my opinion. There are some very worthy additions in this new Mogul game.

I have found this and will be fixing it with the first patch in a few days.

I have created a new fictitious league using all teams but the start year 1900 (deleted all teams, and then added, copied/imported in stadium info.

My issue (PLEASE HELP) lies in pitching, movement in particular. ALL pitchers created have 100 as their movement.

I have outputted the predicted statistics, and this movement number generates predicted era's that are compatible, but batting averages below compatible (highest predicted ba is .283)

I simulated one month into the season and had 4 guys batting over .300, and too many pitchers to count with era's UNDER 0.50!

Now that we can output vitals, there still isn't a way to input "movement," and it is very difficult/tedious to go player by player to adjust, esp. since there isn't a specific field to adjust this measure in... HELP!!!!!

If you're still having the problem with the 100-50-100 pitchers, follow the instructions in this thread and download the patch: http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54686

Seems like everything that was supposed to be in that patch isn't.

I never play in 1914. So obviously I dont know what I'm talking about. The fix works for 2005.

And yeah, some sort of batch player editor would be useful in those cases

I also have the patch, and then tried this. I have started new with each patch and no such luck for 1900...

I have this problem too (yes I have the latest patch) but only when I add a new team. It never happens to players generated for the draft. Also, if I create a new team, there are many players with bizzare fielding ratings. For instance, it might generate a player with a fielding rating of 125 or so but his arm and range will be in the low to mid 60's.

this seems simular to the old problems 2k4 had with pre-1905 games.

check your input folder, and click on the start year you started with...check your stats in that catagory....

especially with pitching.

Program files\ Sports Mogul\ Baseball 2005\ input\ 1900stats

there is a problem with those stats,

if you have little or 0 strike outs, then your movement will go up. And the stats during the deadball era will make pitchers like this...also pitchers who dont strike out many players will not pitch as many pitches per game so this will have an effect on movement also.

Lets call this one the deadballera stat movement bug:D

does this only affect the starting year, or all subsequent years for new rookies until past the deadball era? Net, should I change the stats file for just 1900 or for everything from then until the 30's?

Thanks for the input!!!!!!

i am unsure?

go ahead and check it out, start a game in lets say 1900 sim for 40 years using the multiple season option, and go to league leaders and see how many people hit homeruns after 1921.

you will see if the game only uses the stats for 1900, or if it changes each year.
