View Full Version : Young players getting free-agency too soon!

Playing as the Devil Rays after the first year my two best young players, Rocco Baldelli and Aubrey Huff, both became free agents and demanded huge contracts. At 22 and 24, with well under the mandatory 6 years of MLB experience before free agency. Long story short, Rocco is now earning $6 mil for another team--I signed him but had to trade him to avoid bankruptcy. This is a real problem for any team, but especially if you want to try using a poor team with promising young players.

This is exactly what I've been talking about forever. Basically, here: http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?t=116409
The players should go through arbitration, but the teams choose the "release" option. It happens in real-life through non-tenders, but thats usually only for reserve players or unneeded players. In Mogul, it happens WAYYYY too much.

 um again a reply to a dead post (original posted feb 2004)
LITTLEJOHN we are in 2006 & are talking about BMK7 & eventually BMK8
replying to "ghost posts" is time wasting & useless considering the time span
if you cannot handle it then go to OOTP forum & criticize their game of 3 years ago:mad:
