One problem I have found in BBM 2003 and the online version is that sometimes midseason all of a sudden the rest of a player's stats in a given season will be inputed into the playoff area for that year. Hopefully this problem is corrected for BBM 2005 and will also be corrected for the online version. Here is the link of such a case: http://www-2.sportsmogul.com/bb/bg.pl?page=scouting&id=26296309

I am also wondering if the inflated hitting/lack of pitching has been corrected in BBM 2005. In previous versions and the online game, there are too many walks, HRs are a bit too inflated, as well as BA. It is way too easy to get an offense that scores 1000 runs, even though this has only happened a few times in MLB history. It seems that pitchers improve much less over their careers than hitters do and are also more likely to regress. But I think this is only part of the problem. A pitcher with a B control rating will approach 100 walks; in real life only a pitcher with terrible control will approach 100 walks. Even solid pitchers give up HRs too easily also.

And the answer is not just stocking your teams with better deffensive players, b/c there are only so many good deffensive players in the league.

The split stat bug is still present in BM 2005, but so far Ive only seen it once; it doesnt seem to be as big a problem.

I can answer the second part of your question. There is an input folder in the Baseball 2005 directory where you can edit how many homeruns, walks, etc that there are in a year. This is the one the game uses when you choose to start in 2004:
Ground Out,100
Fly Out,100
Line Out,100
Single,100
Double,100
Triple,100
Home Run,100
Walk,100
Strikeout,100
Hit Batter,100
Rotation,466
Talent,956

In Baseball 2005 Average league ERAs can range anywhere from 4.5 to 5.0, and average homeruns per team is around 200 in the AL vs 175 in the NL. Its not as bad as BM online was at one point.

And SuperFan, range is your friend. Remember that.

The 'input' folder is a big help for calibrating stats.

HOWEVER, we've also put some serious work into getting the offense/defense balance right without the need to edit these files.

This new calibration system is in BB2K5, but not fully implemented in BMO yet.

Ok, excuse this potentially dumb question, but what do these two figures mean?

Rotation,466
Talent,956

rotation- i believe is how good the players who are starters are...

and talent is all new players!

but I could be wrong :(

i too could be wrong, but i think rotation refers to the average of the number of men in each team's starting rotation, so that 400 means every team has a four-man rotation, 500 means every team has a five-man rotation, and 466 (i. e., 4.66) means two out of three teams have a five-man rotation

Postseason fielding statistics are not shown.

I forgot to mention that fielding stats for pitchers are not kept either, this includes the regular season statistics. Oddly enough, if the pitcher is in AAA, fielding stats are kept.
