i know this bug has been around, It was around in 2k3,2k4, and 2k5
when you sign a player who is in their last year to a contract extention, there new contract goes into effect right away!
for example,
Randy Johnson is 5million this year, and is sign thru 2004
I want to re-sign him now, and he asking for 12million.
when I resign him, for the rest of the year, he would be making 12million....and my expenses go up, but the extention actually starts in 2005.
does this make any sense,
Please post if this bugs you:(

Yea it bugs me. Hasn't this happened in every version of Baseball Mogul? I don't know how they would fix it though

Same old song regardless of version. Frankly though, I like it - while the opposite is of course true, it also allows you to re-sign aging stars in their option years for less money, with the "discount" kicking in during the option year.

IMHO it's not a bug.
You are renegotiating the contract. If you want to negotiate for 7 years, then do it at the end of the year. If you want 8 years, then renegotiate now, with the new contract absorbing the last year of the current contract.
Programming wise, doing it any other way means the game now has to keep track of two contracts: the one that will end in a year, and the one that will kick in at the end of that year. It's just not worth having a whole new set of data just to avoid renegotiating the contract.
All it needs is a little text explaining that you're renegotiating the last year of the current contract as well as all the years of the future contract. If that.
