View Full Version : ALL TIME FRANCHISE GREATS - over 2000 real players!

This is a compilation of hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours of work started many years ago. It is every current MLB franchise and their best players based on their best single season - no duplicate players, real stadiums, real statistics.
I removed all pre-1920 pitchers from the game because they were dominating too much.
Every player starts at 21 years old and has a 20 year contract.
How to use it :
This version will work with Baseball Mogul 2005 but works better with fewer bugs with Baseball Mogul 2004 with patch 6.17
Check Commissioner mode in Options.
If you want all players to remain on their teams, make all teams Human.
If you want more of a realistic simulation, upload the statistics from the .csv files posted in the next couple messages after each season.
---------------------------------------------------------
If you find any errors in this large database of statistics, or have a way of improving this database, please let me know. Enjoy.

Randy Johnson should be on Seattle....he spent over 10 years with the club.
only 6 with Arizona.
Also Curt Schilling should be on Philly.

Thanks for the comment but that's not how it works in this. I take each player's best single season, regardless of which team they played for at that time, unless that team cannot use him in their starting lineup. This way each player generally gives the best possible representation of themselves.

I checked it and based on my formula, Randy Johnson's best season for Seattle was a little better than his best season for Arizona - so I'll put him back where he belongs. Thanks for the tip. That Arizona team is already atrocious though :D

well i downloaded it and i think the yankees are gonna be the hardest team to beat. You'll have to move Thome to the Phillies after this season if he keeps it up. A-Rod howd you decide that one he hit more Hr's in Texas in 2001 but in 1996 great average. John Smoltz wasn't a bad starter but with the other i see him in relief. I wonder what would happen if you put in their real age and gave them 20 year contracts would they still retire cause they are old? no Cy Young in the game cause of the Domination right? too bad would have been interesting. LA's pitching gonna be hard to hand like 4 outta 5 starts are 100 rating.
those are some of my impressions on the Universe

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
I haven't played an "official" 20 year string yet but in my test runs, the best teams appear to be the Phillies, Giants and Yankees. Perhaps the Phillies a little behind the other two.
If I played 20 years I would guess the Yankees would win the most world series but probably not more than 6 or 7 of them.
Thome will move to the Phillies if he can have a season that is clearly better than Ed Delahanty's and better than any season he had with the Indians. It's possible but not a lock.
A-Rod is perhaps the hardest player in the game to pick a year for. It's between 4 comparable seasons he had - 2 with Seattle and 2 with Texas. In fact, I'm still deciding but his last year with Seattle is what I'm going with for now. I tend to use a combination of (games played, OPS, HR%, fielding, and speed) as the leading factors and not necessarily in that order.
Smoltz had a great season starting with the Braves in '96 but clearly he is more valuable as their closer. The Braves have good starters already.
Yes I have to start everyone at 21 years old because I don't want players to retire before they complete their 20 year contract.
Cy Young can't play because I removed all dead-ball era pitchers because they were too dominant and it was also a way to give newer franchises a prayer, although, they are still hardly competitive. The best newer franchises in the game are the Astros, Royals and Expos. I've seen all 3 of them make the post season at least once in test runs. Angels and Mets are somewhat competitive as well.
The Dodgers have the best overall pitching staff in the game perhaps.

It seems as though you are using Mogul 2005 to do this. That's okay but it's not going to be as realistic or nearly as bug-free as Mogul 2004 patch 6.17 That's what I use and it produces a very realistic simulated result. That's what I recommend. I tried to use Mogul 2005 but I was finding some things that weren't making sense. I think one thing was that it would rearrange the lineups and staffs even with every team on Player mode.
William Dunham? Who's he? I don't think he exists.

Almost no matter what the line ups will change I could try a couple of things to keep them constant though...

This is a great roster. I'm enjoying using it. The only problem so far, the Brewers have something like 6 starting pitchers, maybe 7, and then 25 or so relievers...

If you have downloaded the pitchers .csv file, you can import or type in the stats for Moose Haas and Pete Vuckovich.

I don't know how to do that. Any help would be appreciated!

Because we're only talking about 2 players here, it may be best you simply add them yourself.
In commissioner mode, edit any existing Brewers pitcher and click Copy, twice.
With the 2 New Players you've just created, add the stats that you'll find here :

Thanks for the information. Are there a bunch of players/pitchers that can be added to these rosters? If so, I would rather do that. THanks again!!!

There's a handful of players on each team that did not make the rosters for various reasons. The main reason was because at least with the version I was working with, if you have more than 27 pitchers or 37 hitters, the game would make bizarre lineup changes on its own it. To find the other players you'd have to download the pitchers.csv file and the hitters.csv file which were posted earlier in the thread.

Gotcha, I appreciate the info. I just can't figure out how a no-named free agent signed with Pittsburgh and went 18-0!!! This new roster is a kick. Good job to the creator, great idea!!!
