to anyone that has purchased the game

how exactly does the download/install process work? i have had to reformat my HD twice in the past 3 months and need to have a backup of the installer incase i have to do it again. I also have 2 computers (desktop and labtop) and want to put it on both machines. If there is a way for me to do this i will gladly purchase the game tonight
