I'll go month to month unless I have an injury.. Then I'll sim until the injury's done...
Also, near the Trade Deadline, I'll sim until July 31...
Then once August hits, I sim until the playoffs unless someone gets injured...

A day at a time. That way there's plenty of time to yell at your closer for blowing a close game. Or curse your franchise 1B for striking out with the bases loaded. Oh, and most importantly, dance on the graves of the teams you should have beaten last season when they wind up at the bottom of the league with nothing. NOTHING!

i usually do week-to-week, as i like to tinker and readjust lineups, strategies, etc. If i've had an injury to a significent player, i day-by-day when it gets close to his return to ensure, same if i want to give a player a spot start or a couple games starting.
and of the course, the playoffs are all day-by-day.

I like playing until any injuries are finished, and then to a convenient place inside each month (usually the 1st, 15th, 20th, or 30th) to check up on everyone. Sometimes, like egswanso, I like giving people spot starts, just to take some pressure off my regular rotation and try out some minor leaguers/long bullpen relievers.
